I had a similar problem with a rig of mine. I had a Windows 8 key. I had to install windows 8, then upgrade to 10.
Recentally I think I remember reading that has been changed. I believe you can activate a Windows 10 install with a Windows 8 key. You just have to activate it manually and put in...
Just have to remember, RAID is not backup. ;)
Is linux or a BSD flavored box really out of the question? There's many NAS style distros which come with an easy to use web ui.
It's nice that this movie did so well. Maybe this will convince the film makers to let more movies be R rated. There are a few in the past which were forced into being PG-13, which really killed the mood of the film, as they were so limited.
Thanks for the reply! Ah I understand. Yeah more colors can just make things harder. I was only asking as I just love the grey Compact Splash case. I have a black one, and I just wish I could get a grey one. In the end though, I'm not afraid to use a dremel if I do pick one up and move my rig to...
The laptop comes with a 128GB M.2 drive, yeah?
If you use that as your boot drive and the mechanical HDD as just storage, you should be fine. :)
Either way if you want a 512GB or 1TB SSD, I personally have always used Samsung's SSDs. Their 850 EVO is a great drive. If you aren't afraid to buy...
I saw one pretty slick build in it the other day. It does look cool...but I bet it'll need constant cleaning.
Would be interesting to see a smaller one, like an ITX version.
First off, to make sure nothing has happened to your original RAID array, unplug all the drives then see if your system boots normally.
Did you move around any of the SATA cables while hooking up the new drives? It shouldn't matter but best to know.
If it does, then see what happens with just...
Yep, it should work fine...although RAM always works best with matched pairs of size and make.
The thing is though, do you really need 24GB of ram? I have 16GB and that's sort of excess. If I was you I'd sell the other set to put some money back in your pocket!
As defaultluser said, I'd go with a 970/390 if you want an upgrade now. You'll see an improvement for sure. You can also look at snagging one used for a bit cheaper.
Heck if you really want to splurge you can get a 980 too.
A fan upgrade I think is a good idea. You could splurge a bit and get all PWM fans too. Then using your motherboard you can set up some profiles so your PC will stay silent when it's idle and ramp up slowly when it's under load. :)
As you most likely know, it all depends on what case you put it in. Heck even in a ATX case, if I cram the card up next to another one with little airflow for the blower, the same effect will be made. Even though a lot of SFF cases can fit a big card...not all are made to handle the cool air...
As other people have said, the 970 and 980 are quite amazing cards. They have great power consumption ratings for their performance. As you most likely know, power consumption is directly comparable to the amount of heat they throw out.
It could be many different things.
At this point I'd just try and remove variables. If you have spare parts, I'd try swapping them out and see if that fixes the problem.
If that is the case then you know it's that particular part. Then you can RMA it.
I really wish more of these cases would adopt the SFX form factor. The components going in them aren't going to be high power...so what is the need for such a huge PSU.
