"A bit classier look"? They look completely different. It's like saying a Toyota looks like a Lamborghini because they're both cars. People pay silly money for premium products. $200 for a high-end pc case is nothing, especially when the components going in to it cost many times more. Lots of...
I'm sure that there are enough people out there who want something higher-end and more sophisticated than your average slim ITX case, which is what the RVZ02 appears to be (fugly aesthetic and Steambox/LRPC-esque internal design notwithstanding.)
Well, yeah, size seems like it wouldn't be an issue in accommodating an ODD. For me though there are real concerns in accommodating an ODD - a) A slot on the front would look shit. Really shit. Although a 'no-ODD' panel option would solve that. Which brings me neatly to... b) It's more work...
3M tape to attach the feet? Comparisons to automobile parts? Drilling and tapping your own screw holes? There are many, many good reasons why none of these things have been discussed until now or are hardly ever discussed outside of modding boards and indeed why they aren't a feature of any...
I prefer the rounded pedestal by far. Far classier. And also 2 USB ports on the front for ease of access and all that. Basically I really really really really like the design as it is in the first post (though perhaps with the USB ports rotated by 90 degrees as I may have mentioned once or...
I feel like an idiot. There I was thinking that Necere had just run out of energy and/or free-time or had hit a wall with the design. Although I was under the impression that costs weren't an insurmountable issue. Oh well. I really do hope that you guys can pick it up again sometime and find a...
"On the back burner" :( "for now":)
I've found that any project or creative undertaking almost always ends-up being better for it by being put aside when it becomes too strenuous only to be revisited later with a fresh eye. And these things should be enjoyable.
I see what you're saying and we...
I really do hope so. I think that the LRPC is almost perfect as it is and it seems like most others on here do as well. For me NCASE is all about - No compromise on quality, thoughtful design with No square inch wasted and doing what No-one else is doing. Just like the M1 the LRPC epitomises...
Well, just to chime in with my perspective. The idea of the M1 selling due to being "being one of a kind" functionally? Well yeah, one of a kind mainly from the point of view of water-cooling, but out of all the M1's sold how many people are actually using water-cooling?
I'd argue that it's main...
This. When the case is horizontal, or indeed as you point out Urelure 'upside down', and you have either slow running fans or semi-fanless/fanless PSU or CPU cooling then dust/dirt could again get in. It'd be nice to have peace of mind that the case could be used indefinitely with future...
Thanks for the reply. I did wonder about the distance from the power switch to the ports and why you had the logo in between them when everything was centred on the front panel in previous renders. My image was just a very quick and dirty photoshop using an old render that wahaha360 posted...
Superb design and I really hope that it gets to production.
Any reason though that the USB ports can't form more of a natural line with the logo near the top edge like this?: -
Aesthetically I think it just seems nicer to have them parallel to the edge and mirroring the shape and...
It's not "funny" but inevitable given that a) everyone has different tastes, b) this is the interweb and a lot of people don't read threads in their entirety or individual posts properly and, c) most important of all, the two new options look awful. I'd be happy with the panels to remain as they...
I completely agree with Necere. Minor tweaks and not major structural changes. Pretty much everything regarding size, component placement, etc has already been discussed in the original thread, and the M1 as it is is the outcome of those discussions. And it's a fantastic case, and a fantastic...
Bit of an issue here. Received my M1 last week. It's been in bits for the past few days as I've been waiting for new parts. Built it today, and when I went to put the front plate back on I noticed a small scratch on the panel. It's only about 1mm-2mm long and is hardly noticable, but I'm a bit...
I'm building it at the moment and actually just came back on here to find out if you'd had any issues before I mount the cooler. So thanks for the info! Heatpipes-up it goes... ;)
IIRC it was a bios limitation only. In fan Xpert you can choose whatever percentage you want (I think. My memory's not the best so don't take my word as gospel on this).
I toyed around with it for a bit, but my main gripe on this issue is the fact that you shouldn't have to run a program in the...
Thanks for the heads up, but I have used speedfan before. Like I said there were ways around my z87i-pro issues - I should've clarified that the extra "expense" would've been for a bluetooth dongle which actually costs very little on ebay. I guess it was a little bit of hyperbole on my part to...
I actually bought a Z87I-Pro the other week to use in my M1 build but didn't like it. Loads of fan headers on the board, but you can only set the fans to a minimum of 60% (seriously Asus, wtf?) and the bluetooth didn't work with some of my peripherals. Neither one a deal-breaker necessarily as...
Well, like I said I'd stick with the 2500k. Haswell isn't a great deal faster in most things, and you probably wouldn't notice the difference. The slightly lower power consumption is nice but again it isn't a huge difference. I have owned a 2500k, a 3570k and now have a 4670k, and there isn't...
Need a bit more info. Is there any reason to suspect that your 2500k will "stop working"? What clockrate is it running at and more importantly how much voltage is it using? Cpu's don't fail unless a) they have too much voltage put through them, or b) are run in excess of their thermal limit (and...
It's mounted outside of the PSU housing. It's currently connected to a splitter cable with a resistor in it to lower the voltage and thus slow the fan speed. I will connect it to my z87e-itx for finer grained RPM control when I move the build as it is from it's temporary case in to the M1. I...
There was talk a few pages ago of using Acoustipack or similar materials, but I seriously doubt that sound dampening materials on the panels would do anything for fan noise as every panel has loads of ventilation holes for sound to escape through.
As always with quiet computing the best place...
Silver NCASE M1 #852 arrived safe and sound this morning. It looks even better in the flesh. Easily one of the best looking PC cases I have seen in my 20-something years of computing and computers as a hobby.
So kudos to Necere and Wahaha360 - this project has been an absolute triumph so far...
Thanks dude. My case arrived at lunchtime like I hoped it would so I will be off to the post office shortly. Did you use signed for? And how much was it?
BTW doesn't this case look amazing!?:D
