I've thought about cramping storage in the A4. Easiest way is to cramp multiple 2.5" 9mm 2TB drives without using the bracket, and use SFX PSU to maximum the bottom space. When the 15mm Spinpoint M10p 4TB drives are out, it's also possible to use those. I'd pool the drives with Stablebit into...
You literally have no idea what you are talking about. It's just a rectangular piece of metal with two screws. As for the actual complexity and manpower required to test a piece of metal with two screw and installing it, only Dan can answer that. Lian Li is in charge of making the cases anyway.
That's probably the only flaw with that motherboard. They just need to make triangle shaped walls for support but they just leave it attached only at one end for no good reason.
I see it on my unit as well. It happens when the fan is on the threshold voltage between starting and stopping.
As for the ticking (rattling), I heard it occasionally during the first two weeks, and it's been quiet ever since.
It's to keep out the big creepy crawlies. It's important for some of us.
The extra cost is most likely negligible.
It's a one-time removal if you dislike it. It might be a problem if you have OCD and are forced to put it on even if you don't need it, because otherwise it won't be a complete...
I don't get why anyone is against the extra plate cover though. It's in no way detrimental to the current design and you can remove it if you want airflow.
I guess there are pros and cons. The Gechic weighs less than 800grams. You can theoretically buy two Gechic screens and still get very compact space. But there will be a hole in your wallet.
There's also the AOC line of extremely light and flat screens if you can still find them. They weigh a...
I had a case whereby my AIO cooler applied too much pressure on the CPU if I screw the block fully in, causing it to not post. It's probably not what's happening to you, though.
I got the Asrock Z170 Gaming-ITX/AC and my only gripe at the moment is that the wifi port area is only attached at one end and made of thin metal. So it feels really flimsy.
Is there any 120mm, 37mm thick AIO (like H80i, Nepton 120XL, etc) that are supported for this motherboard without modding? Not the H80i GT due to space constraint.
Amazon gets only good reviews for the SFX-L 500W.
I heard some occasional rattling during the first two weeks of use, but now my unit is seriously quiet.
The sound profile of the fan may be a bit rough if I put my ear next to it, but the actual db is really low. I sleep less than two meters away...
Edit: never mind I misread your post.
But stacking 120mm fan gaskets also means getting extremely long fan screws if the gaskets are between fan and bottom of case, The maximum I know is 20mm.
Unless the gasket are screwed in from the top of the fans, but I've never tried that.
If there is a vertical tunnel between the separator between the GPU and the motherboard area, an AIO can possibly be used to cool the GPU. This may improve support for things like Fury X and Kraken G10. Not sure about the EVGA GTX 980Ti Hybrid since the tubes come out of the top of the GPU. The...
Oh no... Idea stolen from Ncase M1. But the flexibility is great if someone using 2-slot GPU without case fans can mount the GPU from the second slot onwards, closer to the holes to prevent air recirculation. And if someone wants to mount 2 slot + fans or 3-slot GPU can mount it further away...
I wonder how possible it is to have 3 slots and the ability to mount closer or further away from the air holes, depending on whether the user wants to use the case fans.
Do you think there is space to put a 3.5" disk over the motherboard when an 240mm AIO is present, and still rig a couple of SSDs somewhere?
I'm thinking of a X99e-ITX/6-core build cooled by a 240mm AIO, and all the hard disk a person can use :)
Hi esplin2966,
The holes here are a bit wasted because they are right up on the wall of the PSU.
On the other hand,
this area has a wasted space that could be used for the exhaust/intake of the AIO.
While I'm not OCD about the randomness, I'd prefer a higher density of holes for better ventilation because it can get really constricted when filters are added. And the shape of the GPU holes is telling me not to use a triple fan GPU.
Edit: I just notice the GPU holes are for additional 120mm...
I'm actually waiting for someone on the Internet to say that the A4 SFX is in the shape of a tower so it isn't that much smaller than any tower case and so you should buy the 250D because it's a cube and looks small that way.
I've always had this idea that people mistake "most efficient at 50% load" as "least heat and noise output at 50% load, more heat and noise at lower or higher percentages than 50%".
The kneading is really easy after you remove the clamp.
But it can't be flushed perfectly. I had to use 2x2mm fan silencer as a short tunnel between the bracket and the fan, and so that the fan almost touches the Scythe Kabuto II. (The effect of this may be placebo)
SilverStone also seems to be...
The cables should bend towards the other side of the case away from the GPU, then loop back towards the motherboard side. And you have to jam in the GPU and the cable will definitely be touching the GPU but it works.
I'd like to see any manufacturer dumb enough to make a GPU longer than 12.2" since it'll lock them out of many cases. If there's anything to worry about it's the height of the GPU.
It's says 11 inches here:
