Be aware of these cards. There seems to be a bad batch of these floating around from GIGABYTE. Lots of people complaining about instability. I own 2 out of which one ended up being a lemon.
The second card is bad. This confirmed it: https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...oc-bad-batch-/
I have the exact same symptoms as the people in that thread.
I narrowed it down to the second card being the problem. When running by itself it crashes the exact same way my SLi setup crashes. With...
Sorry for the double post but here is what I see in the event viewer every time my games crash with SLI:
Warning: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
Error: The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that...
Thanks guys for the replies. I am using Precision X to monitor all temps and clock speeds. The 2 gtx 780 ti's I have come with a factory overclock that boosts the core clock from 1085 to 1150. When I monitor the cards under load they both go to 1215 MHz which i assume is the Kepler boost for...
Tony, Yes to all. The second card is not in the bottom most slot but in the second PCIe slot closest to the first card. There is ample breathing room for the cards, here is a pic of my mobo. Cards are in the first two PCIe slots from top to bottom.
Thanks xoleras but this isn't a temperature related issue. Let me re-iterate that SLi works just fine with a single monitor. Even in low 80s this temp is still safe. The cards arent sandwiched together either with plenty of breathing room between them. I have plenty of fans in a good...
I just can't seem to put my finger on this one. Thus far I have been running a single Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti GHz with 3 monitor surround and performance has been rock solid and stable. Just got my second Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti a few days ago for an SLi setup with my 3 monitor surround and have been...
Another interesting tid bit I discovered on my way to solving my problem. I'm not sure if you guys already knew about this or if it was a known issue, I was not able to find much info about this but here I go.
About 4 months ago I bought myself a G510 Logitech gaming keyboard...
Alright, without further adieu, I finally solved the problem. After trying everything imaginable, the last thing I tried was a fresh install of windows but not even this worked. Finally I said, what the hell, and cranked the manual fan speed control of the fans on both cards to 85% in OverDrive...

Don;t know what good it will do me but I will try reformatting today to a fresh OS install. Also have heard that running voltage monitoring programs while gaming with crossfire + eyefinity causes lockups. I have only gamed with HWMon running so i will try disabling that too to see what it does.
Not working for me.
Using the latest 12.11 Beta drivers from here with the CAP 2 profile, I am hard locking with looping sounds with two GIGABYTE 7970's windforce cards in CrossFire using EyeFinity on 3 monitors. Will try to see if it keeps crashing using a single monitor tomorrow when I get...
Hello my friends,
First off, my problem is exactly the same as these guys here:

I know the second slot is an x8 slot but should it be missing pins like this? Can anyone confirm this? What is a good way to verify the integrity of a PCIE slot?
BTW when I first built my rig last November, when I first fired it up to install windows, I had crash/BSOD issues during...
Hello guys,
After 24 hours of banging my head against the wall because of crossfire instability, I think I have found the root of my problems. I need you guys to give me a sanity check. As soon as I plug a second 7970 GPU in the second PCIe slot, I cannot game for more than 10 minutes without...
Guys,
I'm running into a bit of an annoying issue. I just started running dual GIGABYTE 7970 GHz cards in CrossFire and I can't seem to game for longer than 10 minutes without my PC locking up completely with crazy white screetching noise coming out of the speakers. I am currently running my...
Hello,
Here is a question that I should have asked a long time ago. I am still curious to this day of what exactly went wrong. When I first built the system in my sig, I had a terrible time getting windows installed. Windows installation would skip important steps, it took forever to install...
Got it guys!
Right now for my stable 4.5GHz I have LLC set to High (which is considered level 3 at 50%) with C1E, C3, and C6 all disabled.
So my plan of attack this Friday will go something like this:
1) Find out what my VID is for my stable 4.5GHz OC.
2) Set my Vcore to "Offset" and add or...
Pitbilly, thanks for your input sir :)
I am also seeing alot of people leaving C1E enabled and disabling both C3 and C6 just like you. I will do the same. I am not sure what to do with LLC however. Can you enlighten me?
Forceman, what can you recommend I do with LLC, C1E, C3, and C6 when using offset overclocking? Right now with using manual overclocking, I have LLC set to High, (option 3 or 50% in my BIOS) with C1E, C3, and C6 disabled.
Ok, I will set an offset of +0.0 and work it that way. Thanks so much my good sir. I will get to this as soon as this friday night and get back to you with my results. :D Once again, thank you tremendously!!
I see what you are saying. VID changes with different multipliers correct? So in that case what do I need to do with my Vcore to see what the VID is for my 4.5GHz overclock? Do I set it to AUTO? And if so, do I need to change anything else? This is the part that confuses me, how do I find out...
Alright, my plan of attack is to load optimized defaults in BIOS so I can bring my CPU back to stock speeds. Then I will stress test and find out what my maximum load voltage is at stock and then I will bring back my 4.5GHz overclock with SpeedStep enabled and set Vcore to offset and just add...
Ok, so basically what you are saying is that I can set my Vcore control to "Offset" along with setting LLC to low/medium, and then leave "CPU Offset Voltage" to AUTO and then boot into windows and see what the new load voltage is with my 4.5GHz overclock. Given that I know that I am stable at...
Hello guys,
I have been able to successfully overclock my 2600k using Theocnoob's overclocking guide. I reached 4.5GHz at Vcore 1.31. Right now I am using the manual method of adjusting the Vcore so my CPU frequency is constantly at 4.5GHz and Vcore is at 1.31v 24/7. What I would like to...
