I can tell you that the Usb 3.0 controller on my Z77 Sabretooth is indeed an Asmedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 xHCI Controller.. Not sure on your particular P8Z77-V. My particular driver version is 11/03/2011 ver 1.14.3.0 Regards.
