I am personally more concerned with the quality of the unit than a small increase in cost. This will be powering many hundreds of dollars in equipment and I have no desire to deal with dead anything. It may be fine as is, but I'd much rather pay for better internals given the option.

Despite the advantages of DP over the others, many people still use displays that do not have DP inputs. In my opinion, they shouldn't have catered to people cradling old tech. Move forward or get left behind.

I lol'd. DisplayPort is a VESA spec. http://www.displayport.org/ AMD certainly is pushing the hell out of it though which is a good thing. If only MST hubs would make their appearance, we'd be in a much better place. GPU makers still can't seem to give us the magical 3x DP on ref designs.
