Just an update:
The card game a few days ago and the install went pretty smooth. So far save some physics related issues with Metro Last Light its taking everything I can throw at it with solid frame rates at my monitors native resolution. Very happy with my purchase so far.
You have my interest as I'd love to try water cooling my next GPU to get some first hand experience but the current thread seems a fair bit out of date.
Heh yeah it looks from all the reviews to be a solid card, not to knock the AMD variant at all. The only concern I have is with the potential ram temps under load but we'll see how that goes. Either way I am considering eventually water cooling it for lower operating temps as video cards are a...
I ended up finally nutting up and going with a MSI GTX 780 Ti Gaming for ~$640 shipped after MIR from the egg. While not the absolute best deal out there I felt it was a solid card to pick and priced decently for the performance increase, especially as I'm limited to a single slot so may as well...
Yeah that's the main thing making me quite leery of the prospect even considering the initial savings. ;) As I've said before for a cheaper mid-level card I wouldn't care, my current card was a mid-level open box special with no real warranty after all, but with a high end piece of hardware this...
..D'oh. Thats what I get for being in a rush, thanks for the save. Though to be fair I also wasn't sure if it was kosher to link directly to the egg considering the current relations with them.
On a side note Amazon does have a few used units on sale for ~$560 for the more gutsy among us. I...
Hey all. I'm not sure how good of a deal this is, especially as its at the egg and a lot of people here dislike them for various reasons, but currently they have the GTX 780Ti Gaming edition listed for $670 compared to its normal MSRP of $710 with the ability to top that with a $30 MIR. So after...
I've briefly used Geforce Experience on my previous system before and honestly ended up uninstalling it shortly thereafter as it proved, for me anyway, pretty unnecessary. Plus I hate having more software installed on my system then needed and I much rather prefer having manual control over what...
I appreciate the advice, but unfortunately I have no interest nor budget to mess with SLI.

On a side note I wonder if picking up a reference cooled card would be worth it. Especially if as mentioned before I've considered slapping a G10 bracket on it anyway in the near future.
Thanks for the reply, and in some ways it makes me wonder if the 290x situation is akin to how things were for Nvidia back in the GTX 480 days. Loud, hot, and utterly brutal in terms of the performance you received in return. :D Regardless of the card I end up getting I have also been toying...
I do appreciate the responses and have looked them all over even if I only picked one to quote below. Thank you. :)
That is more or less what I'm planning on doing truth be told despite the initial sticker shock. Which is funny considering the sale TD/Amazon just had on the Gigabyte 780 Ti...
Hello all. I've recently managed, in part with advice given here, to assemble my very first build though due to budgetary reasons I had to temporarily reuse my old card. Due to unforeseen events of the fortunate kind however that has potentially come a bit sooner then originally expected. Now...
Just out of curiosity how long of a period was there between 4gb GTX 680's and the GTX 7xx series? I'm currently on the fence myself though I'd only be gaming at 1440p.
Unboxed my X-star today and preliminary tests show no noticeable dead/stuck pixies or back light bleed. While not conclusive and needs more testing I'm quite happy with the purchase so far.
When bitcoin first burst upon the scene I remember many people I knew raving about it and how they'd strike it rich while I naturally saw it as a dangerous proposition while also being called a Luddite at best. A few years later and here we are, I wonder who turned out to be right in the end. :p
That questions been asked often and most recently here. Short version appears to be no, there's no hard news or even semi-plausible leaks regarding any release within the next few months. Beyond that it becomes more hazy but the overall feeling still seems to be not to expect high end Maxwell...
You posted asking if it was a good deal and worth a try on the off chance it proved legit as you could get your money back anyway. That is not something you would have done had you no interest unless it was done as a deliberate troll. :p
While we have cable internet currently, (lack of options, go USA!), we have no need or desire for the TV service oe phone service they also offer. Despite them all but begging us to sign up for one of their bundles so we could save $50 a month...by spending an extra $100.
No. This is akin to asking "Hey if I stick my hand into this hole in the ground I'll probably get it mauled but it'll all be good in six weeks so is it still worth it on the off chance I'll grab something shiny rather then a rabid badger? Two other people have tried already and I don't know how...
Not bad. The only reason I went with Dream-Seller is they were the cheapest of the 'sorta reliable' options I could find by about 20-30 bucks. Though maybe had I picked someone else I wouldn't have to wait until sometime next week but oh well live and learn. :D
I just received an email from Dream-Seller informing me that 'Due to so many orders they've gotten behind doing quality checks" more or less and thus won't be able to ship mine until this Thursday. They also made the offer of a refund if that was unacceptable but I'm willing to wait. Especially...
Wait, potential buyers in other countries also aren't being gouged as badly as anyone looking to purchase a GPU in the North American market has been? I'm honestly curious.
Nifty but the concept of using magnetic fields for cooling isn't exactly new. Still interesting to see them making progress on real world examples that the average person could in theory use.
It does, however one of the most important things that separates us from savage animals is our ability to actually reason. So trying to use said ability to overcome a social order that's no different then a pack of wolves fighting over a downed carcass isn't a foolish goal even if on occasion...
I placed an order for one on the 10th and while Ebay says its been shipped the Fedex website keeps saying it can't find the tracking number. So I guess we'll just have to see...
Lets be honest, if they had to show us what they've done with the current programs odds are we'd see its either overkill and/or ineffective in everything save securing additional funding. 9/11 and its fallout was a budgetary gold mine after the lean years post-cold war and there are many...
