I have a Dell T5500 Workstation.
at one point I was using it for video processing and some gaming.
Here's the specs on it:
Dual X5647 Xeons
24GB DDR3 PC3-10600 memory
PERC 6i with 4x 10k RPM 160GB HDDs (currently removed and stored while I use a single 512 SSD)
Quadro FX3800 video card...
Looking at getting an enthusiast motherboard to swap my X5647 on to... Are there any still available?
I was looking at the MSI Big Bang XPower X58... but they seem rare to find.
I'm wondering if there's any benefit in finding an enthusiast motherboard (like the EVGA SR-2) and installing my twin X5647s into it.
Right now it's in a Dell T5500 workstation and the 2nd processor requires a daughterboard that is susceptible to failure

I've currently got 2 10k RPM SATA drives running in RAID0 on a PERC 6i card and they're not as fast as the single SSD I have in my second desktop.
