In my country this monitor costs 10 euros more then it was when I have bought mine a month ago. And there aren't many resellers who actually have it in stock. I guess buoyant demand has something to do with it.

Actually, I didn't hear nothing until I haven't red your post. :D Now, when I put my ear close to the back side, I can hear it, quiet buzzing sound, but just then, when in front I don't hear anything except my pc fans.
