I'm not sure if its proven or if it carried forward but I always felt like un-activated windows 7 installs ran like hot garbage if left un-activated for over a month or so. Once activated all "issues" seemed resolved.

Yea the Gen 2's were horrible. They promptly undid all of the stupid stuff they implemented on the Gen 2 Carbons when they released the Gen 3. I haven't had my hands on anything after gen 3 due to in-house switching to HP(less than thrilled) but from what I've seen, they've been pretty solid.

Need to fix the monopolies the ISP's have on various regions before capitalism in that sense will work. The reason the mobile market is so competitive is because you can literally choose who to have service with. Much of the US is limited to 1 ISP that isn't DSL.
