I almost bought that card with the intent to put an accelero iv on it. Would have come in at $700 tho, didn't make sense when the custom cooled cards are like $720. Still pissed at myself for not jumping on the xlr8 card when it was $639.
Sold my 2 year old 295x2 that I paid $500 for on eBay, sold for $885. Even after PayPal and eBay fees I'll clear enough to buy a 1080ti. Might just hold off and see what Vega brings also.
I have bought 2 in the past 6 months, both are the rl series, 60 Hz 1080p console esports monitors. Both are refurbed, both look like new. No issues at all.
Regular 1080 at around $480 is a better buy IMO than a 1070, and should be plenty for those games even at Ultrawide 1440. My kids PC has GTX 780 and it runs Overwatch max settings at 75 HZ, 2560x1080 no sweat. Gtx 1080 is close to 2.5x faster than a 780.
We just now have a GPU that can run 4k ultra at 60, how long till we have one that can do it at 100-144? 3-5 years? Personally I don't see the advantage of buying 4k to run at 144hz for games like CS:GO where you turn all the details down to get high frame rates.
I'd buy a 40" 4k at 75hz with...
No need to spend that much, the HP Omen is you're best bet at that size. 75hz with freesync.
If you want to go 34" ultrawide 3440*1440, there are a couple options that do 100hz for around 700-800. Microboard and crossover both make good ones.
On the bright side, once you get it running it's still a very powerful card for games that have good crossfire support. I'm still rocking mine, waiting to how good Vega is.
What about dump trucks and bulldozers? Should dump trucks and bulldozers pay taxes ? How many guys lost jobs when machinery replaced pick and shovel crews for road building? Technology has been replacing humans with machines for a long, long time now. Robots aren't the first and certainly won't...
I agree 100%. When robots start getting paid, they should pay taxes like the rest of us. Until then, the person that owns the robots is already paying taxes.
Rx470 is your best bet is you can swing g a few more dollars, or watch for a deal on a 4gb Rx 480. Huge upgrade from your 6870, and no worries about warranty issues from buying used.
If that's all its using, that's all it needs. It's already recognized that you have a new card as it's using almost double the VRAM that your old card had. 1080 just isn't a very high resolution.
