AMD Catalyst 14.4 Windows / Linux Driver Now Available

Installed, and now my second monitor doesn't work. Single 290x. Everything was working fine on 14.3.

    83C for 3570k @ 4.5 Ghz under load normal?

So for the fun of it, I decided to delid. Put CLU between die and IHS, and MX-4 between IHS and water block (originally I had used Arctic Silver 5, and probably not enough of it). This time my i5-3570k was at 4.4 Ghz @ 1.280V. Ran IBT with default settings. After 10 runs: Pre-delid: Tmax 78C...

    Catalyst 13.30 beta

Just today I realized I was suffering from the "black screen" issue with my 290x. I've played BF4 for a couple hours with this update and no crashes so far. Wouldn't say I'm out of the clear yet though.

    83C for 3570k @ 4.5 Ghz under load normal?

Just installed the EK acetal+nickel water block for my 290x. Decided to not mess with the CPU block. Ran Furmark (stock GPU clocks, radiator+case fans on lowest setting) and GPU core Tmax was 45C!! On air, my 290x was constantly at 95C. That's a 50C drop! Crazy. VRM1 Tmax was 58C. Decided to...

Very high cpu temps under load with XSPC raystorm copper edition

I'm hitting 83C on my i5-3570k @ 4.5 GHz and 1.264V. Raystorm EX360 with nothing else on the loop. I'm beginning to think watercooling doesn't guarantee amazing temps, particularly with ivy bridge and haswell. Don't know about amd.

    83C for 3570k @ 4.5 Ghz under load normal?

For what it's worth, it only hit about 72C with Prime95. Do people usually use Prime95 or Intel Burn Test these days? Anyways, next weekend I'm going to install the GPU block, so I will reinvestigate the CPU block at that time. It will be interesting to see GPU+CPU temps on the 360mm rad. I had...

    83C for 3570k @ 4.5 Ghz under load normal?

Just got a RayStorm 750 EX360 WaterCooling Kit. Installation went smoothly, but I've noticed temps are much higher than I would have expected. Right now my i5-3570k is the only component on the loop (adding my AMD 290x soon but the block is taking forever to get here). It's overclocked to 4.5...

BF4 spinning up file storage/secondary drives

What's odd is I noticed BF3 use to do this, even though no BF3 files were on the secondary drive. Never found out the reason. Fortunately for me it didn't really impact loading times.

AIO water cooler on a R9 290X review

Awesome! I was waiting for a detailed review of this. My 290x is arriving soon and have been thinking of water cooling. This review seems to alleviate the concerns people had with VRAM cooling. You could always had heatsinks if you were worried, but it probably isn't necessary. Interesting the...

Eizo Foris FG2421: 120hz VA Panel

Finally did a more thorough evaluation of the 240 hz turbo mode. I put all the settings in Battlefield 4 at low and went to the test range. FPS was 100-120. The differences were most obvious when spinning around in the helicopter and watching the trees. Obviously the following is rather...

Excellent compared to other monitors mostly because of superior black level performance.

Eizo Foris FG2421: 120hz VA Panel

Just figured this out! Now I don't even have to press any buttons to enable turbo mode for games! Very convenient.

Eizo Foris FG2421: 120hz VA Panel

I have fantastic news. It's actually completely trivial to removed the stand and VESA mount the monitor. The limitation is that only two of the four VESA screw holes are available. It's very easy to do, and doesn't require you to dismantle the case. There's a piece of plastic on the back part...

Eizo Foris FG2421: 120hz VA Panel

Weird. The contrast enhancer did nothing for me initially. Just tried it again now and it's clearly working! I'm not sure if I changed some other setting or if it just randomly started working. Also can't see cross-hatching on mine. I could have sworn I saw it once, but can't seem to find it...

Eizo Foris FG2421: 120hz VA Panel

Just got one of these. My old monitor is a 120 Hz Acer HN274H. Motion is obviously amazing in games, especially at high fps. Honestly the thing I like more than anything are the great black levels compared to TN and IPS displays. Color is better than my calibrated Acer, but not dramatically so...

BF4 - Any GPU info yet?

I always got 50-80 fps with my 570 gtx SC. 1080p ultra with MSAA off. I don't expect BF4 to be much worse, but we will see!

Looking to upgrade to a 290x but need advice on my current rig

CPU performance was atrocious when the beta first came out. The 2nd or 3rd patch significantly improved performance on quad core (and six core) CPUs. I have a i5-2500k, and it ran the BF4 beta like crap initially. I even overclocked it to 4.5 ghz, which didn't make things much better. After the...

Panasonic GT30 / ST30 Help, and Wall Mount help

You need a television mount. I highly recommend the ones on monoprice.com. They are inexpensive but high quality. Also, 3 hours shouldn't cause burn in on a modern plasma. However, I highly highly recommend changing the display settings. By default, TV's are usually on some awful setting like...

Help Me Design n Build An Awesome Command Module!! - 15K Budget!!

Cool! Hadn't even heard about these. Definitely would like to see one in person. I've never thought LCD's looked as smooth and natural as plasmas, but this one, from the sound of it, might change my mind. It doesn't appear to suffer from halo artifacts either. However, $5500! I got my kuro for...

Another Samsung 120HZ model to be released in October

Seriously, what the hell is Samsung's beef with VESA mounting? It's fairly simple to implement, and a lot of people (like me) have mounts and won't buy a monitor without it.

Help Me Design n Build An Awesome Command Module!! - 15K Budget!!

Plasmas have superior picture quality to lcd's. Anyone who denies this is a liar (I happen to have the last generation pioneer kuro). HOWEVER, if you plan to use it like you use a computer screen, i.e., with it showing a still image like a desktop most of the time, then I would be wary. Burn-in...

IPS or 120hz? (for non-SLI, 60fps, modern games, longevity)

If you're really curious, it's a Gateway fpd2185w. What's odd is some places say it's and IPS and other places say it's a PVA. I've never noticed any ghosting on this display, so I'm leaning towards IPS.

IPS or 120hz? (for non-SLI, 60fps, modern games, longevity)

Main game I play is Bad Company 2. I max out the settings and it plays around 80 fps. Big difference for me between 60 fps and 80 fps. From what I've seen and read about modern IPS, mine isn't much different (old Gateway 21"). It's not a super high gamut display, and it's definitely lost some...

IPS or 120hz? (for non-SLI, 60fps, modern games, longevity)

You're lucky if there's one on display near you. The best buy doesn't have any decent monitors where I live. I did use an IPS monitor for 6 years before I got the 120 Hz. Switching to a TN panel definitely stings as far as color goes. I don't find viewing angles a big deal because I can easily...

    ZR2740W VS. U2711 VS. S27A950 !?

That's all well and good, but glossy monitors are out of the question for many people. FYI, a good matte substitute for the 950 is the Acer HN274H.

IPS or 120hz? (for non-SLI, 60fps, modern games, longevity)

Another option of course is having a dual screen setup with both an IPS and a 120 Hz monitor, probably using the IPS as your main monitor and switching to the 120 Hz for games. I was originally planning on doing this, but it turned out using a single 120 Hz monitor was sufficient for 99% of my...

IPS or 120hz? (for non-SLI, 60fps, modern games, longevity)

Tough call. If you had been using an IPS a long time and were happy with it, I would go for an IPS again. Otherwise you will be very disappointed by the color of a TN panel. However, it sounds like you only had an IPS for a short period of time. Is color vibrancy/accuracy extremely important to...

    ZR2740W VS. U2711 VS. S27A950 !?

What the heck is going on in that Samsung LCD factory? Clearly not the conditions to be manufacturing a $800 prosumer display. It's a shame, because it seems like it could be an amazing monitor if they just get their QC together.

    ZR2740W VS. U2711 VS. S27A950 !?

The 850? Yeah, a lot of the units people have received have atrocious backlight bleed. I would steer clear for now.

Which monitor for my gaming rig?

This is a pretty good list of actual 120 Hz monitors: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-system-requirements.html. The Samsung S27A950 an S27A750 are also 120 Hz but not listed. There aren't many fake 120 Hz monitors out there (televisions are a different story). Even if you don't get 60...

    ZR2740W VS. U2711 VS. S27A950 !?

Well the Samsung is in a completely different category from the other two. Did you mean the 850? Otherwise, you need to decide whether you want a high res IPS monitor or a 1080p 120 Hz gaming monitor. What do intend to use the monitor for?

Which monitor for my gaming rig?

The best solution is this: buy from a online store with a good return policy. Malikq86 is right, it varies from person to person. I recently had to send back a 120 Hz monitor because of a dead pixel, and switching back to my IPS for games I did notice the colors were much better. However, for...

Which monitor for my gaming rig?

All I can say is that after using a 120 Hz, I will never buy a 60 Hz monitor again. Considering you have 2 6950s, you're likely to benefit greatly from a 120 Hz monitor. However, some people buy 120 Hz monitors and just don't notice a substantial difference. It varies from person to person.

Which monitor for my gaming rig?

Considering a single 6950 averages 56 fps on alpha code (http://gamegpu.ru/Action-/-FPS-/-TPS/Battlefield-3-Alpha-test-GPU.html), it seems plausible that you will exceed 60 fps with 2 6950s. Granted, those benchmarks were for the 'high' setting. 'Ultra' setting benchmarks have not been revealed...

Which monitor for my gaming rig?

If you're using the monitor primarily for gaming, I would definitely get a 120 Hz monitor, especially because you're running twin 6950s. If you get a 60 Hz monitor, pushing 60 fps won't do you any good. In fact, it will be detrimental, because you will likely have to enable v-sync on every game...

ViewSonic V3D245 reviews out (120 Hz monitor)

Looks like it's going to come just shy under $500 at retail, which is close to the ASUS VG236H. What's annoying is that while Asus offers a version without the 3D glasses included for much cheaper, that doesn't seem to be the case with the Viewsonic. Seems like you must buy it packaged with the...

ViewSonic V3D245 reviews out (120 Hz monitor)

I noticed a couple of reviews have been published for the ViewSonic V3D245. Given the scarcity of the 120 Hz monitor market, it's nice to see something new. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/09/viewsonic-makes-3d-easy-with-new-console-friendly-monitor-1.ars...
