Tried this just to try it out. Doesn't work for me :) The game just crashes. If I do it inside it works. Untill I go outside. Then the game crashes again :) You _cannot_ go back from a higher ugrids setting. Which sucks as my guess is many ppl will like to experiment. And it, again, _cannot_ be...

#nrowland try and use the LAA mod for the new patch. Should improve stability (allows the game to use 4GB of RAM instead of the current 2GB limit)

Yep. Runs 100% smooth. The game doesn't like the 8192 shadow maps though, so I had to take those down to 4096

However. The shadow settings listed kills off any interior environment for me. As in completely. Stuff just dies. Runs so slow it takes me like 15 seconds to do a 180 degree turn.

I have now done my own testing. With a uGridsToLoad setting of 13 I have played completely stable for over an hour using the LAA-mod. My rig is: Core i7 980X@4GHz 12GB RAM, 1600MHz, CAS 8 GTX 580 SLI running 285.79 drivers Win7 Ultimate 64-bit

Nice overview of what actually does what. Other guides seems to have been more or less fumbling in the dark. About the uGridsToLoad though - did you try the 13 setting while using the LAA mode enabling the game to use 4GB? There's a loader which will enable LAA despite the new patch.

    Dragon Age 2 Performance Follow-Up @ [H]

Some ppl must get things wrong. I am not saying HardOCP should not test DA2. DA2's engine implementation is broken and needs to be called out for it. And BioWare deserves a bashing for releasing the game in this state. But what HardOCP uses the article for is to compare nVidia's and AMD's...

    Dragon Age 2 Performance Follow-Up @ [H]

Sigh... These performance reviews of DA2 which HardOCP does are so grotesquely stupid. Regardless of what cards they test. BioWare has officially stated that their DX11 implementation of the UE3 engine in DA2 is broken and needs a serious patch for better performance, which will arrive in...
