    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

I meant the perfect size for me. Obviously that's going to vary person to person.

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

Got my C2 yesterday and color me impressed. This thing really is the perfect size. And wow it just looks amazing.

    43inch TV/Monitor 4k people...what scaling do you use?

I really am getting old. I'm at 150% lol

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

Yeah, I pretty much agree. I was hoping the Corsair 45 would be released at 4k, but maybe next year. I'll definitely enjoy this even after I've stopped using it as a monitor. :)

    42" OLED MASTER THREAD

Yep, so is Best Buy and Newegg. Newegg also includes a free 4 year extended warranty. Not that I really feel that confident about the extended warranty coverage, but hey, free is free! lol I pulled the trigger. I couldn't resist any longer at that price point.

    Worth selling/shipping a case?

I tried shipping something heavy a couple of years ago. Ended up being cheaper driving 6 hours one way to deliver it myself. 12 hour round trip cost me about $100 in gas vs nearly $800 for shipping.

Who ran Haswell-E for a long time or is still running it?

I still have my 5820k system up and running. Asus Rampage V Edition 10 motherboard. 32GB RAM. Ran it with a 39% overclock for a LONG time, but it's running stock now. I currently do everything with it except game. Running Arch Linux for desktop, storage, plex, and a host of other things...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

I don't disagree. Anyone can. Just comes down to whether they want to most of the time.

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

And there's the rub. Many do not just use it for web browsing. Some do, some don't. But the moment they want to install something and it won't, chances are they're not going to be satisfied until it is installed. Honestly can't tell you how often people I know go to the local store, purchase...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

I said I am living in my own reality. I am not upset. I just think you're delusional to think your opinion and reality is the only one that matters. "I did it, so it must work for everyone, right, RIGHT?!" I'm glad you were able to convert friends and/or family to Linux without them knowing...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

Yes, they would know. I'm not suggesting anything about their level of computer knowledge or intellect. I'm using my words to describe their responses to things when they are 'different'. You go to login to Windows and it normally asks for a PIN but now it's asking for a password, you don't...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

You know it's more than just what it looks like, so stop it. The first time they go to install a program, uninstall a program, access a secondary storage drive, whatever, you know darn well they're going to know it's not windows, no matter what kind of GUI lipstick you put on it. Even logging...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

Yes, a person's intellect is solely judged by their ability to use Windows. Guess Albert Einstein was an idiot AMD 3600, 16GB Ram, 2070 Super, x570 Mobo, 1TB 970 EVO+ NVME

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

The reality of it is, GNU/Linux is not the answer. I wish it was. But when users like my mom and dad, very smart people that once worked for NASA, struggle even with basic Windows/Internet concepts because they don't 'live the PC culture', there's no chance of them switching to something else...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

Star Wars: The Old Republic, Final Fantasy XIV, EVE Online, and World of Warcraft. I primarily just play the first 2 right now.

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

I only try and play about 4 games, maybe 5 on Linux and almost always it's a hot mess trying to get it to work. And when it does work, eventually they break it. I'd love to just use Linux at this point but until I can game consistently, I'm stuck still dual booting windows.

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

What are you talking about? Why would you need a new CPU? Ok, I see the compatible processor list.

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

If you think spending thousands to build a new PC is even a remotely better option than adding a TPM module to your existing machine for $30, chances are you were already planning an upgrade. I mean honestly, even my nearly 10 year old X79 board has a TPM module connector.

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

That is simply not true. While older machines may require a $30 part to upgrade to Windows 11, there's nothing keeping you from continuing to run Windows 10 on your existing hardware for ANOTHER FOUR YEARS. Just because you WANT to upgrade to Windows 11, doesn't mean you have to, or that...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

Obviously my snarkiness aside, your computer from 4 years ago, 3 years ago, or whatever, is currently running the same, will continue to run the same for at least another 4 years, running the operating system for the era during which it was built; the Windows 10 era. That hasn't changed. You can...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

My biggest complaint about this is all the complaining. How many times have we gone through this over the years, people freak out and complain, and a few years later no one even remembers it happened. Remember when: Floppy drives replaced tape drives? Complaints 3 1/2" floppies replaced 5 1/4"...

Windows 11 May Not Run on Early Ryzen, Threadripper, Skylake-X, or Any Pre-2016 Intel PC

I honestly think most of you are seriously overreacting. OMG Windows 11 won't run on my 20 year old toaster! HOW DARE YOU MICROSOFT! The worst thing about there being a Windows 11 is people on the internet.

First PC Build since 2010... after doing my homework, how does this look?

For the most part I think you're spot on. Personally, I wouldn't buy MSI. I think they're extremely shady as a company and out of all the components I've purchased over the years, MSI has by far the highest failure rate in my home. Too many times I watch videos on youtube from the big tech...

Windows 11 reveal coming June 24th

If Microsoft was considering switching to a GNU/Linux based desktop, they'd be better off virtualizing a backwards compatible desktop with video driver pass through for gaming and business use. Honestly, WINE is such a pain in the butt to get working right half the time for games and windows...

best Linux distro (secure / private / no analytics / no tracking)

I disagree 100%. I've worked on enough machines over the years that have been infested with malware, browser redirects, etc where people have either had to pay to unlock it, or pay me to fix it for them. They may not be targeted by a specific hacker group, but everyone is being targeted somehow...

best Linux distro (secure / private / no analytics / no tracking)

Yeah, I don't disagree it's a pipe dream. And I do take steps to be as secure as I can be. And I certainly recommend everyone take steps to do what they can to be secure. Just be aware every time you access a website, or open an email, you are literally opening a door and inviting thieves into...

best Linux distro (secure / private / no analytics / no tracking)

Yes, it is. And the GNU/Free Software Foundation concept it is founded on is great. Just don't expect it to run well out of the box on all hardware. It's one of the wholly free GNU/Linux distros specifically designed to not include any proprietary drivers. So if you're rocking an nVidia video...

best Linux distro (secure / private / no analytics / no tracking)

I personally went with Arch because I wanted to learn more about GNU/Linux and the install process. Whether or not any OS is tracking you or not will always be a question I don't think anyone can really answer with 100% certainty. Most vulnerabilities will happen once you start installing...

Would i gain performance by doubling my ram with Win 10

16GB is pretty much the sweet spot for typical usage; gaming, web browsing, etc. The thing about RAM is you typically don't need more than 16GB, but when you do, you generally need a LOT more than 16GB and even more than 32GB; high end workstation kind of stuff. Like others have said, it depends...

Bump for an awesome set of speakers. I own 2 sets and I've had them for as long as I can remember. Pretty sure it's been at least 13 years. If I lived in Sacramento, I'd own 3 sets. :P

Anyone still running an X99 Broadwell-E system?

I remember using an old ISO for Windows 10 installs and man, it'd take a day to get all the updates done. Thankfully, you can download fresh ISOs from Microsoft using their download tool that eliminates a lot of the Windows Update waiting.

Anyone still running an X99 Broadwell-E system?

I still have my X99 build up and running; 5820k (39% Overclock), 32GB Memory, Asus Rampage V Edition 10 mobo. + I've played around with putting my 2070 Super in it and running games at 4k I never really noticed a difference between it and my 3600 AMD system. Obviously 4k puts most of the load...
