I finally got around to taking off the AG coating on the fw900 that was recently fixed. When I saw the picture quality after removal, I couldn't believe how much better it looked. This unit is in need of a white point balance and I recently got a used DTP-94. It has all the manuals and software...
Well I didn't check the other boards, I just went by the message I received from eno. Swapping those 2 boards did not correct it. If a short is occurring in the tube, perhaps my multi-meter will tell me just that.
Some, not much. I'm nowhere near UV's level.
I thought about getting a CRT restorer a few years back to fix my dad's TV. It badly needed it. In the end, he got one of my TV's I had fixed at the time. It was bigger and could do HD, so I never bought a restorer. Not sure if I want to try it on...
Well, the monitor that flashes appears to have a short in the tube. I swapped both the A board and the power supply, the flashing persists. I still have a trick up my sleeve on this monitor, however.
I installed the power supply from it into the monitor that shuts off. No more shut downs, the...
I will check out those videos.
I traced the connection down to CN654 off the power supply. It feeds power to the deflection board from the looks of it. I'll have to pull it out and see if there's bad joints there.
Updates:
I got my money back after escalating to eBay. The seller says he made a claim to FedEx and they should be contacting me soon to arrange for pickup.
Looks like I connected the monitor shutting off and (possibly) the ABL errors to one simple problem: LOOSE CONNECTIONS.
Recently, the...
I already have a case open, but the seller takes too long to respond between messages. UV, you're saying I should contact PayPal instead of eBay? I was going to escalate the case to eBay.
He said to either ship the monitor to him (but I pay return shipping), or make a claim with FedEx and I get all my money when they pick it up. I'll make a claim tomorrow.
Just under $500 with shipping. As far as damage goes, the bottom left corner of the bezel is not secured and popped out and there is discoloration on about 1/3 of the screen total as you can see from the picture.

The seller from eBay finally responded and gave 2 options so I could get my money back. Both require I give up the monitor. Although the screen is no good, the parts inside work fine. It would make a nice donor to fix my other monitors. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and keep it.
I was thinking, since the screen wasn't stable horizontally maybe something is wrong with the horizontal circuit. Would that indicate the horizontal transistor isn't functioning properly? I'm noob when it comes to reading circuit diagrams, but I think Q906 is that transistor, right?
Colors are distorted on the eBay one. Tried degauss, landing, and image restore. None worked
The seller didn't mention there is image burn and deep scratches in the screen.
The light on the other one blinks when it shuts down. I was also messing with it last night. I discovered, with no...
Some updates:
1) The monitor from Ebay was damaged during transit and I'm waiting on a reply from the seller on what to do since the monitor was insured. If I end up getting stuck with it, the monitor has fully functional parts so I can pull parts needed.
2) I picked up the 2 monitors from...
@Poordevil
I'm still not ready for LCD. I've stocked up on CRTs as much as I could. I decided I've got enough now and hopefully by the time my last one dies, there will be excellent flat screens out there. I've got 2 fw900s, 2 dell p1130s, and 2 viewsonic g810s (one of these is on its way out)...
That is how I currently have set up, though they are very different cards. The primary card is the gtx780, the other is a 9500 GT. Every now and then, the drivers will suddenly stop and the screen will be frozen, but for a few moments or so. I got a cheap one with no upscaling or anything, it...
Yeah, I didn't realize my current graphics card had only 1 analog output, and I'm using 2 CRTs. I'm getting myself an HDMI to VGA converter so I don't have to run 2 monitors on 2 different cards. I think they're crashing my drivers.
And I know it's off topic, but it's hard to find something...
I think the most common adpter I've seen (and I also have) is the CP210X usb to uart adapter. If the chip is exposed, it will have printed in very small numbers "2102" or similar.
Here are drivers for that chip: http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx
Make sure...
The FW900 has this circuit as well from what I've read. With this info, I will be trying this out on my second 900 that's coming in. From the pictures on ebay, it looked like there were some retrace lines barely visible. I'll know when it gets here...
I'll let you guys know the results. Source
I don't mind having it shipped. It's much cheaper than other quotes I've seen. Hoping it's a good one. I noticed how rough the outer casing looks and the seller says the case is broken on the back.
My first thought is the AG film. One of my p1130's has that yellowish tint to the black levels, but only when light is shining on it. It's not really that noticeable though, in fact the monitor has to be off to really see it. Maybe removing the AG film would solve it. People have reported it...
How much are you selling it for? What direction are you moving? I'm in Houston, Texas, so it's a long drive for me obviously. Don't know if my car will make it lol.
My graphics card for some reason seems to go to a low resolution when waking the computer sometimes. Since the screen isn't sized to fit, I noticed this on the screen:

See where...
I found a way to make WinDAS run under Windows 7 64-bit. :D
Turns out that ocx file needs to be registered somewhere else. Here is the command to type:
regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSFLXGRD.OCX
Sorry if it's already mentioned somewhere else in this MASSIVE thread. I'm still reading through it.
For me, some games look better in 4:3 ratio. If the monitor is running 16:10, usually the window is stretched to fit. I don't like that, but I won't go to 1024X768. I usually do 1280X960.
Thank you for the links. I'll see about hosting the drivers.
As far as upscaling goes, I see that when I'm not booted to windows (BIOS screen, Starting Windows screen, etc.). The monitor runs that at 2304X1440 @ 80 hz in those screens. I tested 1024X768 @60 hz in my screen properties, and the...
Thank you. I got my refresh rate back. :D I'm just now seeing the effects from that inf file I found here also. Should've restarted my PC first.
Can you upload those drivers? I'd like to have them handy in case I need them later.
So, I upgraded to the GTX760 and some of my refresh rates have disappeared. I used to do 1280X800 @ 85 hz (the only option available). Now it only does 75 hz. Looking around I found this
but the links don't work anymore. Is there an active download for these?
