Not POE+ unfortunately, only POE. A POE+ device will either not power up, or power up, then drop off when it doesn't get enough power. Used it with a couple Ubiquity AC units and as soon as a 5ghz client would connect the APs would reboot due to not getting enough power.
Close, but not exact. The 71605E doesn't come with the cache vault (BBU) and isn't licensed for the MAXCache 3 for SSD Cache. Same base card, just this one comes with all the bells and whistles out of the box. :)
Anyone using vsan for small deployments? We have a number of remote sites that need 2-4 hosts and shared storage. Going to be testing vsan in our lab soon.
ITv-3 has 1Gb internet???
If so that really drives me nuts. Where I live, the city decided to not have them do FTH and instead went with a much smaller local telco that can't figure out how to do DSL right, let alone try and do FTH. They have bandwidth caps on their FTH service!
Anyone looking...
Scvmm cluster aware updating is for hosts only. Your guests are handled via other means.
It also does compliance policies on updates, and remidates all the hosts automatically.
I use a wsus instance on my vmm server just for my hosts and a dedicated wsus server for my guests.
You can setup vmm...
I just left a small edu for private sector at a fortune 50 global company and it is interesting to say the least. There are so many projects and systems I'm working on I'll never be bored.
Many things are for sure better than edu but there are still a lot of issues and problems. Some systems...
My current Home Lab
Top SuperMicro is my "SAN" running 2012 R2 and acting as an iscsi target.
2x R610s in a Hyper-V cluster
1x SM half depth atom server. Running ESXi and has one of my DCs and the SCVMM VM.
Not pictured are 2x baytech PDUs, 1x Nortel 5520-48T for the network, and 1x edge...
I've used Adaptec 5, 6 and 7 series cards in SuperMicro 2u, 3u, and 4u chassis with Sata and SAS drives and never seen this issue.
Once the system starts booting the controller, that will then start talking to the drives. How long does it take between the raid card starting and the final status...
I replaced my 3 pin fans with 4 pin fans and that made a big difference on my 3u SM chassis. Compatibility is the difficult thing though, I ended up emailing SM support and they gave me the model numbers I needed for the front and back fans.
PSUs are next on my list to replace, but for my 3u...
I need to configure this for my Hyper-V cluster at home.
At work it is nice having a UPS backed by a auto on gen. As long as we got diesel and nothing fails we aren't going down due to power loss.
I have a ER Poe and I've notice the slow dhcp too at times. Doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes it takes a good 30 seconds to get a dhcp address.
I'm going to replace my 570 with a 970 later this year, but I don't know what I should do with my 570.
Is it worth it to keep it just for doing physx and running a second screen?
I have 2x 1080p screens, but I only use 1 for gaming.
Would there be any befit to putting the 2nd screen on...
Cisco even lets you download their firmware and drivers for their UCS servers without a support contract. You do have to login with a Cisco account, but that is it.
I was wondering about the floor, does he really have a raised floor at home?!?!?! :D
My new R610s are nice and quiet. once I get my Hyper-V cluster going I can get rid of one of my noisy SuperMicro servers.
If you are super constrained on U then the multi node systems make sense. Otherwise 1U servers are generally cheaper and have more expansion slots if you need them.
I bought 2x of these for my home lab...
Looks like the magic smoke was let out.
I found this gem while on the roof a local hospital. The cisco antenna on the outside was not grounded to anything, and a set of fiber converters were used to protect the router on the other side of that old radio.
HP in the access, distro and core. We are moving to Juniper in the core though for expanded features.
HP is awesome and cheap, Cisco gear is nice, but we could not afford them. Juniper gives us pretty good discounts on their gear and their jcare is cheap also.
Those AMD ones are super cheap. Cheap enough I could look over the lack of IPMI.
Can they take a 4th node? It looks like most of them for sale were only 3 nodes.
Are they any different than the c6100 other than AMD instead of Intel?
I'm looking for some servers too. I'm currently using a R300 and a old SM white box for my hyper-v servers.
I'm thinking about 4x C1100 or something similar with iscsi boot for all of them.
A friend of mine does where he works. They manage wireless networks for multiple sites and businesses from an internet hosted unifi manager. They are not using aws, but some other hosted solution. it works rather well for them.
I use the POE version at home. One thing to be aware of it comes with a 24v not 48v power brick. So if you have a 48v poe device you want to power, you have to buy a different brick.
Yea it is really annoying.
To make it even worse, 8.1 can't manage 2008 R2 and lower Hyper-V!
They really need to make it so RSAT can manage more than +/- 1 version of their products.
