If I'm not directly pressing against the screen itself, there is absolutely no visible effect. I can, however, see the usual ripple effect on lcd's, though very instantaneous, when even lightly tapping on the screen itself. I'd be concerned if it's only limited to a certain area though.

Along with the observation you made on yours (much thanks for taking the time to do that), I checked out some other monitors, and they all had it pretty much centered or at least not too noticeably off centered to be bothersome. I'm now waiting for the replacement Amazon has already sent :)...
