Its a completely different board than the RIVE, the layout of the various components isn't even close to the old board.
Its been designed to make the most out of IB-E as well.
I purchased my RIVBE from Microcenter right around new years and I had noticed they released an updated BIOS for it about after a months usage, and then today while looking through this review and subsequent thread, I noticed that an even newer BIOS came out on the 12th of this month which I'll...
How come you didn't use the "hybrid thermal CrossChill" to cool the VRM on your motherboard when it was right there next to parts that make up your loop?
The fastest selling computer game of all time being a financial failure? Give me a break
If Blizzard won't even come out with an offline tournament only version of Starcraft 2 why would they even consider doing this for Diablo 3, THE FASTEST SELLING COMPUTER GAME EVER>
Just noticed the Y key on my Blackwidow Ultimate that I got back in January is very dim compared to all the other keys. It seems the LED went out and its just getting a little bit of light that is bouncing around from other keys. Anyone had this happen or hear of it happening? I know that LED...
I thought it was good until I got a mechanical and then the keys felt like mush. I could never go back now. Also I got the mechanical keyboard which is backlit too (Blackwidow Ultimate for $103 at amazon.com with prime $4 overnight shipping for a total of $107) for less than the G15 cost me...
6990 is a joke to me, power and noise off the charts, as well as heat. Anandtech got it to 74.3 decibels, my GTX480 topped out at 66db and that was insanely loud, 74.3 is nearly twice as loud I believe.
Yeah i dont believe that at all, its called cheaping out. I have a VF3000F which is a very similar type cooler and it has a nice heatsink that cools the ram and mosfets and other parts, asus just got cheap.
The VF3000F can be used in SLI if you have enough PCI-E slots spaced properly, with say a 4 way or 3 way sli mobo, but just a normal sli motherboard it wont work since you need 3 slots between them.
Ive only had the battery run out like 2 times in the 3 months I've had it and then you just plug the thing in and it works just the same, and on those 2 days i had been playing way more games than i should have been
Here you can see that I finally got the backplate to fit, it was just a matter of getting the right screws which microcenter had.
And I thought that there was a decent area between the two fans that wasnt being cooled that just had a Zalman logo that you can see in this shot.
I cut it...
Went to microcenter today and got a set of screws I think will work perfectly. I just need to cut them to length and give it a shot. I'm out eating lunch right now on my way back and after I take one of my cisco ccna quizzes I'll get working on it and hopefully complete the job.
Saw it at microcenter today for $140. Pretty pricey compared to the $103 I paid for my blackwidow ultimate and it doesn't even have backlighting. I also wouldn't consider it because of the black switches, I need the clicky blues.
If you can fit Zalman VF3000F on your GTX480 you can make them silent and cool cool them to idle at like 35c and max out at about mid 60s in game. Its a 3 slot cooler though so you need a mobo that would allow you to space them apart far enough to use 2 of them with the coolers. Also its...
GTX480 have a strip of foam on the back of them, it needs to be removed to install the backplate. I can take some photos of my modified backplate so far, I just need to find some screws that fit, or modify them or the backplate some more.
So I drilled the holes in my backplate to allow the knobs that mount the heatpipe heatsink to the board but then the screws that came with the VF3000F wouldnt fit in the holes of the backplate well enough to catch the heatsink. Trying to come up with some ways to fix this. The longer screws...
Oh yeah I also removed that foam strip on the back of the card in preparation for the backplate install. That thing was on there so well, took probably a good 15 minutes just to scrape that off with my fingernail. Good thing I didn't trim them yet as they are just at the point where I should.
I see you have a GTX470. EVGA made a backplate for both GTX465/470 but it seems they sold out and havent restocked their webstore, heres the link to where you would purchase it if it became available...
What card do you have? 470?
And I did take my card out and trace the backplate to a piece of paper to make a template and then put that on the card and cut holes in it to allow the plastic knobs to fit through the backplate. Tomorrow I just have to drill those holes into the backplate and...
Thanks, and I really hope I feel better too, its been constant agony 24/7 since the end of august. I've had 3 epidural injections so far for the herniated disc. I wear a back brace for the broken vertebrae but I dont know it its really helping at all.
Got the backplate today but it was too late in the day to start modding it. I'll do it tomorrow and should get the thing on there. Looks like it should be an easy job to do
Well I woke up today and can barely move from my broken back and couldn't make it to the door in time to sign for the backplate. Its ridiculous that EVGA requires signatures in person for all orders. And tomorrow I'll likely be at the doctors office for my back when they try to deliver it.
