Okay so a 6 month update...
I'm still in love with it. If you use it for what it was made, gaming on a living room 1080P TV, this little computer rocks! I now have the Xbox One TV tuner card plugged into it and it's my DVR as well as my gaming computer. I use an amplified flat antenna and...
Update #2: Windows 10 flies on the Alpha (well with the upgrades I've done at least). I also discovered a secret to updating the video card driver. Go to nVidia's site and download the Windows 10 notebook driver, the video card is technically an 860M. It installed with no compatibility...
I love mine too. Added another 4gb chip and a SSD and it's a zippy little machine. First thing I did was reload it though so no Dell bloatware or Hivemind skin. On the bright side it triggered the free Windows 10 upgrade and is running great on Windows 10.
One thing to consider when buying...
Update: Updated to Windows 10 with zero issues but I am NOT using the hivemind skin, I'm running plain Jane Windows 10. My only loss of functionality is I can't use the HDMI pass-thru.
The CPU is actually replaceable and if I stumble across an i5 for trade or pretty cheap I might upgrade it but like you said, the real limitation is the GPU so it's not worth dropping an i7 into.
The noise is not an issue for me. The Alpha is on a shelf about 5ft high next to the TV that is...
So I decided to come back to the world of PC gaming but the kids arent much older than when I left so I needed something childproof. I caught the Alienware Alpha on sale via a place with easy returns and figured Id give it a shot. Ive had it for 2 or so weeks now and so far Im pretty...
If anyone is a XBONE preview member could you let me know if Skyrim is one of the backwards compatible games that was announced today?
Also if you have a spare invite to send that would be cool too :D
It's unlocked so it will work on any GSM carrier. LTE is the main question.
The Lumia 640 XL LTE can use LTE bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,17,20,28, 38, 40, & 41.
AT&T mainly uses 2,4, and 17
T-Mobile uses 2, 4, and 12
Looks like you are safe.

Back on the market.. contemplated keeping it so the kiddo could Skype with the grandparents on the big TV but Christmas is coming up so on the market it goes.
I'm selling my latest build. I'm giving up on PC gaming until SteamOS has been out for a while and matured.
Here's a link to the build: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1831312&highlight=

+1 to this. We were moving last week and I couldn't charge my phone and it made it 2 full days and still had 18% left on the battery. Crazy fast load times. Zero bloatware.
Okay so I'd like to trade my Extreme SFF computer for an Xbox One, PS4, or maybe even a Xbox 360+ tons of extras.

Unofficial results: Plays Skyrim with the high rez pack at 1080p on medium settings. Plays Terra at 1080p on medium settings (Already uninstall it though.. not a fan). Plays WoW at 1080p on high but that's no shock. Streams movies and TV shows for hours with no issue.
If I get time I'll...
Stress testing now.. 4.1 OC on the CPU and 1086 on the GPU. Currently at 62C after about 5 mins of Prime 95.. not too bad. No vid benchmarks or stress tests yet, still waiting on downloads.
I got everything in and assembled and it powers on! Installing Windows now but here's some pics of the build while I'm waiting on the installer to download (putting 8.1 on it).
Here's a zoomed out pic of the build. Notice how clean the build is? The only cables are the 4pin CPU power and...
The case and MB arrived today. I'm not putting the MB in until I get the heatsink so just picks of the case gutted for now.
Here's a zoomed out version of the gutted case:
Here's the case height measured from the floor of the case to the upper lip. The top actually sinks in a bit so...
Okay so new update:
I went with the Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev. B. Rather than cut a fan hole pattern in the top I'm just going to cut out a big circle. I ordered a fan grill to place over the hole so it doesn't look like crap.
I also ended up going with the Plextor M5M instead of the M6M...
Thinking of swapping out the GeminII for the DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm GABRIEL. I can't find a review that directly compares the two but I think they are somewhat equal. Thoughts?
Update: After a day or so of reading review after review I think I've decided to go with the Scythe Big Shuriken 2...
The FM2A88X-ITX+ does have an mSATA slot but it's occupied by the WiFi card. I'll be removing the card to put the SSD in. It is a full sized mSATA slot and many people in the reviews have done what I'm planning with no issues so I think I'll be okay.
I'll lose the WiFi but it will be hard...
