Doesn't sound like a RAM issue to me but more ram is always better, I see my usage go over 6gigs quite a bit.

Sorry if I was unclear, my original question was would it be worth upgrading my current computer. Since it was socket 775 I was unsure about throwing more money at it....and I from the previous responses I concluded it was not. My second question was would it be safe to build a new computer now...
