What is the most unreliable piece of computer hardware

The only things that ever failed me (multiple times, that is) were my Seagate Barracuda disks. Mind you, the WD disks that I had in the same computer still serve me now.

    Laptop for a Buddy

The 360M is the successor of the 9600M, so it should suffice for normal gaming needs. But take note that this laptop is something of a desktop replacement rather than something you would take with you on your vacation.

    Best monitor choice (~$2000 / ~$4000 max)

@sweet - I don't really have the space for anything that large or pricey :p @alamone - when the new NECs are coming?

    Cheapo laptop for college sister

I wouldn't go over 14", and I would suggest something with AT LEAST 3 - 4 hours of battery life. You might like something like the Dell Vostro V13 (~450). I doubt any sub-400 laptop is worth buying over a decent netbook.

    Approximately how much less?

Why would I go with the 3007wfp-hc instead of the 3008wfp? Only reason could be that 3007wfp doesn't have wide gamut, but that would be the non hc version?

    Best monitor choice (~$2000 / ~$4000 max)

I heard that there is something like 60ms input lag (sorry if this is wrong) and that's why I'm still considering the HP (some people say it's "way" better).

    Semi-HTPC Build (Budget $300)

If you want something that can be passively cooled at the cost of less power (still enough power for HD playback thanks to ION):

Cheap build for messing around with Linux...

Danny Bui's build has more power, so go for it if you want something more desktop-like. My build is something that is more ideal for a HTPC-style computer since it can be passively cooled and the such.

Cheap build for messing around with Linux...

I'm not really familiar with American shops n stuff, so search this yourself: CPU + MoBo: Zotac has a Nvidia ION mobo with the Atom 330 for around $200. You could prolly get one for around $120 if I'm not mistaken but that would be the 230 Atom CPU and no wireless etc. PSU + case; Any mitx...

    Cheapo laptop for college sister

If she needs something now go with something like the ASUS UL series (my UL80VT easily gets to 8 hours of normal class work with networking) or something like the MSI X340. From the UL serues I think the ul20 comes in at around $600, the msi a bit less. I personally like the looks and feel of...

    Best monitor choice (~$2000 / ~$4000 max)

Which 30" would have the best contrast, viewing angles and backlight (I heard that some screens have huge differences between different corners and such)? So far I think that the Dell 3007WFP-HC (maybe the 3008WFP) might be a good all-round choice, but I still haven't let the HP LP3065 out of...

    Best monitor choice (~$2000 / ~$4000 max)

I know that 120Hz doesn't come with 30" (yet? :P), that's what the "priority" thing I posted was all about. I already considered the iMac but from what I hear the screen isn't that good. What is the main difference between the 3007WFP-HC and 3008WFP? Namely, I might have problems getting my...

    Best monitor choice (~$2000 / ~$4000 max)

Alright, the situation is simple. Somehow I have 2 grand to spend. And I'm tired of my current monitors (1x 20", 2x 24", Cintiq 21UX). Now I'm looking for something that would serve at least 2 of the following 3 needs: gaming art (that's what the cintiq is primarlily for multimedia and the such...
