Originally my 5870 was set to all out-of-the-box settings, and was getting the gray screen and/or black screen with stripes crash (especially in Dragon Age: Origins) fairly consistently. (Windows 7 64bit)
On a whim from reading other posts, I enabled ATI Overdrive...
Could be, but my ram has passed every test I've thrown at it, and I still get the gray screen/white lines crash (although it's a black screen/yellow lines crash when it happened in Dragon Age).
After 9.12 was posted, I scrubbed all ATI drivers, installed 9.12 and was able to play Dragon Age...
Wow, that's the exact same thing that's been happening with me in Dragon Age. A newly installed 5870, using 9.11 Catalyst (at default settings), on Windows 7 64 -- and Dragon Age has consistently ended up locking up with the screen turning black with lots of vertical yellow lines. I've tried...
