Guys,
I'm wondering if you can offer any suggestions for a smaller gaming laptop. I'd like decent resolution, and enough power to play D3 (when it comes out) and WoW at decent settings. I'd like to keep it around $1k but would be willing to go higher. Just really wondering what my optoins...
Thanks for the leads guys. I really appreciate it. I am a few months off from making this purchase (Tax return!) but I want to start looking now. the Lenovo looks nice, and it'll have a tech refresh coming out very soon. Plus I am also interested in what else they will pack into the m11x...
All,
I am looking at purchasing a very portable yet very game capable machine. I am looking for some potential options in this market segment. So far I know of the very small Alienware m11x. Is there anything else that I should consider given my requirements? Price is not a super huge...
Personally, I feel the game has huge potential, but I agree with many of the faults that people are finding. The game just isnt that intuitive. Many of the "standard" type of things you would find in another game such as quest givers being clearly marked in some fashion, are inexcusably not...
My buddy recently got this from cyberpower pc.....
I think its better and cheaper than what these guys offer in a pre-built and it is configurable....what do you all think?

The game is fun and its subscription-free now. I read the review and it was pretty much some guy nerd-raging at the no eyefinity support thing. Pretty weak grounds for a boycott if that is indeed what he was advocating.
Unless you are overclocking I don't see the need for an H50. My .02 anyhow. I'm running an i7860 with stock everything in an SG05 and the temps I was getting were not bad from what was told to me on this forum. I would think you would be fine with stock cooling with an i3 530.
Hey guys. I am thinking about putting together a budget gaming rig for my brother for his b-day. I have looked at a couple of options and would like some suggestions from you all if you have the time. I would like to keep it in the $500 range if that is possible, but $700 seems more feasible...
Looks like you could fit a Phenom II X4 905e in it...
Probably still best to stick with an Intel build at this point for performance unless you have a huge issue with supporting them.
I would want to run a 965 or 955 on it. Those are 125 tdp. My requirements for the box I was going to put together were to build something as strong as possible for under $1k in mITX form factor. With AMD that just wasnt possible due to the lack of mobos. I am glad that you were able to use...
While it is a TPS, it really does play a lot like an FPS. To me anyhow. The low player caps are because the game was balanced and designed with 10v10 small scale combat in mind rather than large scale battles. If that bothers you then you shouldnt play the game. The maps are smaller and more...
This will do the job for you. I have a very similar setup albeit in an SG05 and a 5770 and I am VERY pleased with it so far. Interestingly enough it was the first computer I ever built myself so I was very shocked when I had very few problems with everything.
I played this game and had a good time. I never played TF2 so I cant compare. The only issue i had was the low number of maps. Its a well put together game that gets regular updates. If you are looking to kill some time I would recommend it. There are vehicles as well.
Its great right now. I have seen no power problems with it. I'm running a 5770. Future upgrade path for me is 5850 and the new 450w psu when it comes out, or just buy the new sg07 instead and get something beefier in terms of vid cards. Also, I'm not trying to totally hate on shuttle. If I...
I dunno. I'm not actually that impressed with anything I see from shuttle that I actually want once I see the price tag. The J3 price is likely to be comparable to the SX58H7. Which is around 600 bux for a mobo, case, and psu. Thats around 200 bux more than I'd actually at most be willing to...
I'm running the following all stock and no OC:
SG05 + stock PSU
Blu Ray
1T HD (Samsung SPinpoint F3)
DFIs ITX Mobo
Radeon HD 5770
i7 860
4G RAM
Right now iddle my temps are the following:
TMPIN0 - 43C
TMPIN1 - 38C
TMPIN2 - 29C
Core temps:
Core0 - 38C
Core1 - 37C
Core2 - 40C...
This is a generic question, and if it does not belong here then I apologize in advance and if some mod could move it to the right forum that would be appreciated. I am fairly new to SFF and DIY systems in general and I had a question about temperatures.
First, what application is commonly...
Interesting. I thought Zotac had a decent rep, at least in the SFF world. The 9300-ITX board seemed like the defacto mITX board of choice for the last generation of intel processors. Were there just no other options?
PS Kind of new to all of this so forgive my ignorance
The mobo was released about a month ago. Not sure when they would schedule an update but it seems like it would be a little too soon to come out with one.

A true MMOTPS (MMO Third Person Shooter). Looking forward to playing that alongside FF 14 this year. Pre-ordered star trek collectors but not sure when I'll get a chance to play it. It comes with a nice gold communicator tho.
It all varies like steve said. I think I just put together a fairly nice mini-itx and spent only about $950 not including the OS and monitor. It wasnt the best i7 chip in the world, and it didnt have the best graphics card. I didnt have like 100 gigs of RAM either. Essentially if you want...
There is alot of room above the stock intel cooler that came with my cpu. The motherboard came with everything I needed as far as cableing, however I did buy some smaller sata cables (both smaller in length and the actual size of the connector). My vid card was having a hard time fitting since...
I got this build up and running fine so far after a day. Only prob I had was my DVD was DOA so I need to return it. Used an external to load everything so far. The only other thing I might do in the near future is pull out to stock fan and get a better one (any reccomendations?) Running...

This guy recommends a scythe shuriken low profile... not sure though. I would like to know the answer to some of these questions also. Parts are coming in and I havent order a cpu cooler yet.
Thanks for the input. Started ordering my pieces and had assumed the stock psu was good enough. I wasn't going for a super hi-end graphics card. Guess we'll find out =)
Planned build:
i7 860
DFI Mini-ITX MI P55-T36
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1 TB Drive
OCZ Platinum DDR3 1333
SG05 with...
