    Audio-Techinca ATH-A900 Headphones Review @ [H]

I used a pair of ATH-A900's for almost two years before I gifted them to my sister. They fit my head well, so they were light and comfortable. With a good seal around your ear, and decent source, they are not shy on bass, with forward mids and decent higher frequencies. I've moved on to...

    HD 650 and proper amp

The Xonar should be fine for driving the HD 650. Just try that for a bit and see if you find the HD650 performing to your tastes or not. The Fiio E7 isn't a good option since it's more of a DAC and a portable amp. If you pair the E7 with the E9 desktop amp, that would be a good starter...

Love my x220. Picked it up with an i3 processor and an IPS screen and no OS for under $600. Then added a SSD for $200 for a great lightweight machine.

Lenovo posts X220 specs, IPS display is an option

I bought my x220i (i2310, 2 gb ram, ips screen, no OS, 4 cell battery) for just under $600 shipped. Regretted not getting the 9 cell battery and ended up buying that, along with additional ram and a crucial c300 128gb ssd to bring my total cost to about $1000 now =X

    USB Headphones, newb question

As others have said, a USB headphone has its own DAC that will process the sound. You will have to enable USB audio as your sound card to output sound to the headphone, and bypass any internal soundcard. Some USB DAC's can be very good, though you will have to check on the headphone to see if...

    Craigslist a zr24w

Scaling for a 1080p input from my ps3 wasn't so good for the ZR24w when I tried it. It will stretch the output vertically no matter what I tried. Same happened for my 2408fpw though, so I learned to live with it for a while.

Lenovo posts X220 specs, IPS display is an option

It is an ultraportable laptop which is the next step up from a netbook. For a 2.8 lb laptop with a 12.5" screen, the resolution is fine. Any higher resolution on such a small screen and you would not be able to read anything. If you're looking for a 17" 1080p, 9 lb desktop replacement...

Lenovo posts X220 specs, IPS display is an option

I went with the i3 based x220i but with the IPS display as a good ultraportable with a nice screen, and the capability to output hd video to one of my TV's at home whenever I feel like watching a stream of some sort. It's been a great little computer after I installed win7 on it, solid exterior...

Lenovo posts X220 specs, IPS display is an option

Anyone have any suggestions for ssd upgrades for the x220? My x220 just shipped and I'm considering upgrading the hdd to ssd since I have to install win7 on it anyway. I've read that it uses the thinner form factor hard disks, but I couldn't find a name for the type of drive used in it.

good cheap USB DAC that outputs to PC Speakers and Headphone?

I've used both the uDAC-1 and the EF2 from HiFiman and both are decent USB DACs for the price. The volume on the uDAC-1 was a bit high as an amp for low impedance headphones, but fine if you're using it as a DAC only.

    Notebook Audio Cards

I would agree with superballz00, the uDAC-2 from NuForce should be a good choice as a USB external dac, powered by your USB port. I used the uDAC-1 for a good six months and thought it did a nice job as a DAC. Now it's collecting dust after I upgraded to a DIY DAC.

    ZR24W or wait?

I purchased my ZR24W from MacMall during their previous sale + rebate (which came really quickly compared to other rebates I've submitted in the past) and I've been really happy with it so far. SOYO 24" DYLM24D6 Official Thread

I just replaced my Soyo 24" after three years of use as there was a line of pixels about 3/4" long in the middle of the screen that was flickering green. Barely noticeable except on white background, but I was able to get a ZR24W for a good price so it was time. Really good monitor for the...

Dell UltraSharp 2007FP for $104.30, 2407WFP for $202.30, free shipping

I only see 2408WFP and 2405WFP left. A little hesitant to get another 2408WFP, even at this price, because my current one has the input flickering issue on the DVI that I've tolerated for an excellent looking panel.

Closed Ear headphones ($400 budget) for music?

The ATH-A900's isolate really well, and can be driven well by an iphone. Bass and mid-bass are punchy, with just enough depth. The treble isn't as clear on an iphone as it would be amped, but are serviceable. I find them really comfortable, with just enough clamping to stay securely on my...

Amp for Sennheiser HD650 on PC

Should probably listen to your current set up with the HD650 when they come in first to see if you're happy with the sound as is. IMO, for $150, you're probably better off not purchasing an upgrade. It wouldn't make too much of a difference in driving the HD650.

Nearfield monitors vs studio grade headphones

Headphones if you share the space with other people (i.e. an apartment or roommates/family), speakers if you can set up a room decently to take advantage of them (have enough space for correct positioning, room treatments). A nice speaker set up will have a much nicer soundstage and bass...

    ATH-A900's VS. BeyerDynamic MMX300's. Gaming

I don't have the Beyerdynamic headset to compare but I love my ATH-A900's for music and gaming. Soundstage is decent for a closed headphone, and I can pick up tiny audio detail at moderate volume levels, but I play using my dac/amplifier set up so I don't know how it handles other types of...

Anyone here ever use the Apple Wired Keyboard?

I've been using my apple wired keyboard for ~2 yrs now. For whatever reason, I've always enjoyed the short key press of a laptop style key, and this keyboard has that feel in addition to being slightly larger than a typical laptop keyset. Types great, and responds well to gaming (used to raid...
