    1080 TI or 5700 XT?

I went for the 1080Ti camp because I got a $400 deal on one (Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme, still got warranty), and it is faster than the 5700XT. I find the drivers working out better on my system at that.

Tesla Unveils Model Y Electric SUV with 300-Mile Range and Seven Seats

Some things that people who dont deal with snow here wouldnt care to think of: EV can start remotely and reliably even if snowed in for 2 weeks without having a need to light a fire undernearh the engine. I wouldnt want a Tesla though.

Tesla Launches $35,000 Standard Model 3

I don't know if it makes any sense to have a traditional cluster. i like tactile physical buttons, but everything is digital now to the point that we could be driving in a glass bubble cabin.

Tesla Launches $35,000 Standard Model 3

All right, here's the plus and minus with the LEAF that I drive during winter. Range wise we lose about 1/3 or so. For that loss, you get electric heating (which comes on immediately instead of about 10min for normal cars) and preheating even via phone for as long as you want as long as you've...

Energizer Smartphone has a 18,000 mAh Battery

The Chinese made a few phones like this. I don't really hate the idea per se, but I can't help but to think that I might as well as to stick a 4G phone modem into an electric car instead. Actually, scratch that. What I serious want is for these phone makers to stop just catering to the thin...

Taiwanese FPG "Devotion" Review Bombed by Chinese for Cursing Mainlanders to "Die"

Ok. I've playing through this game, and the graphics are not super demanding, but but aesthetics and acoustics are spot-on. The damp, wearing interiors of a cement flat built in the 70s Taiwan with a plot that takes place in the 80s is not something that the west is used to (not even experienced...

Huawei Announces the $2,600 Foldable Mate X Smartphone: It Folds Outwards!

I wonder if a retractable roll is a better idea for this kind of display. I don't see a real nice use case for this stuff except for VR display like what some of us have already mentioned here.

RX 580 and 590 Could Get Price Cuts Soon

My card is a 980Ti. I am not sure if I should switch with how the RTX series have turned out. I just want to game on ultrawide 3440x1440 at stable 60+FPS. Anyways. This price cut is a must.

Huawei Announces the $2,600 Foldable Mate X Smartphone: It Folds Outwards!

This is a place where we should talk about the phone as a physical product instead of going into the China issue, since we know for sure that Apple's not involved with foldable display in any meaningful way. What I care more about is whether or not if we will see the Chinese moving aggressively...

Taiwanese FPG "Devotion" Review Bombed by Chinese for Cursing Mainlanders to "Die"

I thought Nixon agreed that there was only the shitty China. That other one is just a so-called poser, but I digress. Still, the funny thing is that you wouldnt have found the Easter Egg if you got the game legitimately. This placeholder texture for the purity seal and ward was patched out...

    YouTube Demonetizes Anti-Vax Channels

Repulsive. Try telling that to the Burnaby BC couple who's child is now under medical quarantine after a hospital visit due to the contamination from said hospital from one Emmanuel Bilodeau. This Vancouver anti-vaxxer father of an 11 year son who contracted Measles after a trip to Vietnam...

    YouTube Demonetizes Anti-Vax Channels

Not just jailed, but to be charged in civil courts for very real damages. Babies are put at risk of measles from the anti-vaxxers' reckless decision right now, and the worst part is that the anti-vaxxers dare to wash their hands clean of any responsibility for this. They are despicable scumbags.

    YouTube Demonetizes Anti-Vax Channels

I think it is fine for people to think different, but they better walk the walk and talk the talk, and they better pay the price if their different ideas lead to disastrous consequences. For one, the Anti-vaxxers should pay with their own pockets if not their own criminal culpability for...

How China's Social Credit System Affects Its Citizens and Businesses

Don't be too hard on them. It's hard for some people to really see beyond their immediate experience. China is bewildering for anyone that can only base themselves from Angeo-Greco-Roman traditions, never mind just from the confines of the American experience. The French and the Russians have a...

A "Legend" Reborn: Logitech Brings Back the MX518 Gaming Mouse

I am kind of sad that most people at the time were so skeptical of wireless (rightly so though) that MX700/G7 became somewhat of a footnote while MX500/G5 would go down as the standard bearer.

Taiwanese FPG "Devotion" Review Bombed by Chinese for Cursing Mainlanders to "Die"

Behold, the best DRM measure you can have for your game. Just stick this seal and piracy sites will stay the hell away from your title. This is the offending Easter egg. It's written in Rune script, which is the first of the formal Chinese script that was first used in Qin to early Han era...

Huawei is Allegedly Stealing Technology from Apple Suppliers

It's a given. Companies having a political officer in the board of directors that get paid to just grease the cogs is the way of life there. Tesla is supposedly the first major exception where the company's truly foreign owned as a show piece at that, without having that political appointee...

    Samsung Unveils a Folding Smartphone

That phone has 4380mAh of battery. I don't think I'd pay out that much for this proof of concept, but at least this is something new. Having said that, I don't think crying about the sticker price is warranted. Samsung is actually trying something here with 1x 4.6" display outside on top of...

Second Apple Hardware Engineer Charged with Stealing Trade Secrets for China

That's the question I want to pose to Taiwan, who's the first enabler of PRC. It's invested substantially, maybe closer to 300 billion dollars than the reported 87 billion. They were the ones who went in right after Tian'anmen and they were the bridge builders for Japan and America to follow...

On the other hand, espionage work such as thing involve a whole cabal, not just one single engineer. There's a part of me that still thinks that Apple under Steve Jobs wouldn't have this episode play out, but another part wonders just how deep this rabbit hole of personal connections go.

Second Apple Hardware Engineer Charged with Stealing Trade Secrets for China

Hmm. I don't think you can curb the issue that way, since the Chinese will bribe, hack or outright acquire the tech by buyout as well, and you know from the Cold War that it takes more than just a blockade to prevent such espionage and theft.
