"When Samsung announced the 950 PRO, several of you commented on potential thermal throttling due to heat generated in such a small package during heavy use. The following image represents a worst case scenario, with the 950 PRO being sequentially written with zero airflow across it:
As you...
They can still update them this year with Haswell refresh and Nvidia 800-series Maxwell mGPU so they will update the rMPB soon, just not with Broadwell.
This is a pretty nice little 2U box (don't know the budget for your project but anyway)

It is very hard to find any details on SSD failures in the enterprise market, particularly in datacenter environments so it is pretty hard to make a educated decision if i should go with an SSD or not, in a workstation, gaming rig etc the decision is easy (SSD:s of course).
I am not looking...
Will these even survive a full year? Yeah, sure it depends on the write load but i have no clue how well todays SSD:s survive in an server environment, i have heard horror stories of SSD:s that only survive 2-3 month in a semi high write environment, but that was a couple of years ago so,
Has anyone seen a 3440x1440 monitor with a symmetrical bezel? Every monitor i have seen so far has a wide bottom bezel and smaller bezels on the side and top, i will be using the monitors in portrait so that bezel configuration is no option.
Ok, the question is simple enough, is there any data on which CPU is the fastest in single threaded tasks?
I have a problem that only can be executed in a single thread, i just run it once a day.
(do you need to actually know what problem is executed to know what CPU is the fastest single...
Thanks for the replies.
Hmm the Intel DC S3700 was announced 2-3 weeks after the last reply in this thread, that drive did fix, well, maybe not fix but improved alot of drawbacks of SSD:s mentioned in this thread, the most important one is data protection:
"Stress-free protection: Protect your...
I am still worrying about that the 840 and 840 Pro doesnt recover so well after high stress, is that related to the firmware too?

How robust is that mount? I have been searching the web for 3683 years for a mount that supports atlest 3 27" monitors, do you think the mount is robust enough to hang 3 Apple Thunderbolt Displays on it, they weight pretty much, about 11kg or 25lbs (or something)
Well the SSD:s costs less than any drive option that Dell is offering so if i could go the SSD route i would have some extra $$ for RAM ;) Also, i pay for electricity, SSD:s would save me some money there too.
Are you sure those SSD:s has volatile cache? The Raid controller have battery backup...
Raid 1 doesnt have a limit on how many drives you can use so you can put 100 drives in raid 1 and that would allow 99 drives to fail, pretty nice waste of space but yeah ;)
Hi!
Dont know if this thread fits best in "SSDs & Data Storage" or in the "Network & Security" part of the forum.
I will be buying a webserver by the end of this year, it will host a pretty small site, a couple of thousand active users writing about 150-200 articles per day and the same...
I disagreed because it is pretty weird to not recommend a language just because some of the tutorials are shit, its pretty easy to get hold of good tutorials, phpAcademy have some pretty nice tutorials for beginners so they can kickstart their coding and focus on good practices right from the...
I totally dissagre with this, everything you said is just based on the assumption that coders never evolve or never learn how to code "right".
Who cares if the code is messy and sloppy the first month or 2 while learning a new language, if someone still write ugly and inconsistent after a...
Thank you for your reply
(sorry for my really bad english, dont know what have happened to it lately)
Yeah sure, i kind of understand the price difference but most of the stuff you are mentioning is a higher price just because it is possible to load it with more stuff of the same stuff, i am...
Hi!
Hmm i did not find a dedicated server section on this forum, so i ask here.
Almost a year ago when Dell released the C servers to the public Dell stressed that this paltform would be excellent for HPC, Database and Web2.0 and such, and yes they look good for that, but Dell also said that...
First it sounds like YOU want to become a reseller, then it sounds like YOU want to buy and use the servers yourself in your project? Which is it?
Anyway, 100k is such a small amount so i doubt that it is worth to find a reseller, just buy directly from Dell/IBM or HP and they could probably...
Hi!
I am thinking of building my own server (google style) instead of buying a readymade solution and i have desided to go with the Asus Z8NH-D12: http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=MBI0BYMg8syhonaM&templete=3
The problem is that Asus states this: "2 x PSU Connector (20-pin 12V)...
