don't the cards already come with a molex- 6pin adapter?
It would be cutting it close, but 350w should be fine. Although, if his power supply does die and fry something along the way (costing him more in the long run), at least you can say "I told you so".
Cheap bastard.
Did not play games on it, since I saw it the day the 5870 was released to the public and the drivers did not work correctly for the 5870x2 (heck, 5870 drivers were buggy remember?).
Card has 2x dvi and 1 displayport. If you look at the pics posted on Hardwarecanucks you'll be able to confirm...
Makes sense no? Reduce clocks on the memory to reduce power consumption to be well within the envelope allowed by 6+8pin power connections... very plausible. ATi themselves released a pic of not one but 2 of the cards and it was shown that they both used 6+8 pin connections. How they did it is...
Nope. Just a guy in the right place at the right time, who met a guy with these cards.
the gpu-z pic shows nothing, could be photoshopped! Could just be a 5870 with reduced clocks or something, who knows. All I know is that it is 100% illegitimate, and that guy is just looking for attention.
x2 550 BE unlocked on an msi-785gm-e65 and running 4 cores stable @ 3.6ghz on stock volts. Passive Water cooling with a swiftech 120.2 rad and gtz block in a raven rv02. Idles @ 21C and load is 26C.
There's no doubt in my mind that new chips are coming from NV, nevertheless I fear that they will introduce 2 high end models, and re-name existing gt200 parts into the gt300 series, and likewise with the twice re-branded g92 chips.
I haven't found a single itx board that supports pci-e x16 and amd cpu's
I have found a zotac board that does intel lga 775 cpu's and has a single pci-e x16.
OT: you would need a better psu for sure. or downgrade your graphics.
This is a really cool read, for me at least. I never owned a s939 but I always wanted to. I bought my first computer right before s939 came out (athlon xp 2800+ or something). Its now humming along as a media pc in my parent's living room.
I have since moved on to bigger and better things, but...
Seems pretty reasonable... not practical for high end gpu's that require dual slot cooling anyways.
The high end parts need all the pcb space they can get.
I would still patent this tho. you never know.
