Hmm, seems my power switch is getting a little flakey. I have to poke it a few times to turn it off or on. I think mines still under warranty from Future Shop too. I wonder what todays equivalent is.
There is no need to run 60 Hz. 59 Hz in this case is proper. There was a article that I came across back sometime ago that went into depth as to why it runs at 59 Hz. There is no need to get your brain all frazzled over it.
I have had no issues with mine. It preforms great and has run for...
It's not that big of a issue for me now that I know what is causing it. I have had to jump through more hoops to get other things done in the past. :D I will have to try the drivers straight up next time around.
197.45 working fine here on win 7 64 bit.
Edited the *.inf under [nv_timingRestrictions_addreg] and added the usual HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags0, %REG_BINARY%, 1E,6D,3F,56,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,7E,01,00
I haven't played with my video drivers in sometime. Too busy doing other things.
I installed Win7 RTM 64 bit last night. I installed the 190.38 drivers the same way I did for Vista and had no issues installing them at all. I do suffer from the 59 Hz bug though. But, it doesn't seem to be causing any ill effect.
I just installed the 186.18_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql drivers. Inserted the code under [nv_commonRestrictionsAndTiming_addreg] in the NV_DISP.inf file and everything is fine. I hhad the 59 Hz issue in the driver version just before these. I resolution would drop down on me too...
I never bother to uninstall previous drivers when installing new ones. I extract, edit and then install. You will get a warning saying the drivers are not signed. No biggie, say yes and continue on.
EDIT: Here is a link to a premodified Nv_disp.inf file...
@ dark reign
Mine doesn't revert back if I select a diferent scaling option. Are you saying yes to the pop up box after you make the change? Mine says 60 Hz. 59 Hz is for Pal I belive. I jist noticed you are on win 7. I am on Vista 64. Oops! lol
@pitbull46
You are supposed to cancel out...
With 185.85 they went back to the new method. Argh!, Why do they toggle back and forth like this?
Pitbull46, are you using Vista 64 again? You had no video drivers installed at all? Not even a set of MS drvers? When you say you just left it go after extracting, how did you extract them, by...
For the 182.51's you put the EDID info under the [nv_commonRestrictionsAndTiming_addreg] header. For the newest version, 182.52, you put the EDID info under the nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings headers. There is three of them.
I wish Nvidia would make up their minds for formating the nv_disp.inf file.Seems they have gone back to their previous formating and are using [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] once again. At least for the 182.52 build for Vista 64.
Sure, use a program such as Winrar to extract the contents of driver archive. Or start the installer up, wait until the installer screen comes up and then cancel out of the installer. Look on your C:\ and you will see a folder called Nvidia. Either way you do it you will see the nv_disp.inf file...
Bingo! I took a stab at picking the right section in this new laid out nv_disp.inf and I picked the proper section first shot.
You now need to put this:
HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags0, %REG_BINARY%, 1E,6D,3F,56,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,7E,01,00 under the [nv_commonRestrictionsAndTiming_addreg]...
Hmm newer Vista drivers such as 185.65 and 185.66 don't have a [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] section. Can someone tell me where to edit the nv_disp.inf now? And installing them straight up still results in the monitor being detected as a HDTV.
@pitbull46
It's not the fault of your cards. It...
