I definitely use and need a case. Been using LifeProof cases on my iPhones since they first started releasing the cases. Have the fiance on them now too. Godsend for klutzes like us, and their customer support is top notch.
That being said, whenever I get a new phone, I remember how nice and...
My ProMedia 5.1 Ultra subwoofer's amp shat the bed (just a fluke on a very tenderly used system) and I ended up replacing that setup with a pair of M-Audio M40's which have served me quite well. I honestly don't miss the bass too much in games, and I moved the satellites to a backup home theater...
I agree with others that I'll wait for reviews. But more than professional reviews, I'm more interested in user reviews after said reviewers have owned the keyboard for at least a year.
I'm really leery of illuminated keyboards losing their LED capabilities in one way or another after seeing...
I agree that a new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game would be fantastic, but I thoroughly enjoyed Metro: 2033 and have no doubt that this will be a similarly fun romp.
Will it have a lot of replayability? Probably not. The other didn't either. Will it probably kill my lowly PC? Probably. But it will also...
Maybe I'm missing something, but once iOS 6 hits the 4S users, weren't we supposed to be able to use FaceTime on 3G as well? Will that be adversely affected by this, price-wise? :(
I know it's very exciting! It definitely is SPDIF, and I'm only getting stereo, while currently playing Blu-rays through Power DVD 9 Ultra. No sub-action or surround. I'll try futzing with stuff a bit more and see what I can see. So many settings! Ugh. Thanks ya'all! I'm just happy to be hearing...
It was and I thought I had lost it, but after some extensive cleaning tracked it down earlier tonight! Also found this EVGA FAQ http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=58804 that helped save me some guesswork on which pins to utilize.
Oddly enough, after plugging it all back...
Yep I looked in my mobo manual and it is a bit cryptic about the pins, but I have the cord ordered! Iit will be a bit before it arrives though - two-day shipping made the total ~$25 and forget that, but I'll be sure to update when I get it and hopefully all will be well! Fingers crossed! Thanks...
Did a little more reading and may have found the issue? Evidently it's possible I should be using a SPDIF cable that has a 2-pin connection on the side of the 285 (just looked in the case and verified this connection being there), but if I ever had that cable (very likely from looking at old...
Thanks for the votes of confidence, folks! Wish I could come back with better news. I tried disabling both the Audigy and Realtek, but then upon starting up the computer, it merely said I had no audio devices installed.
I went into the Nvidia Control Panel out of morbid curiosity, and found...
I had my suspicions. Though I'm definitely using the adapter that came with my video card. Never bought such a thing otherwise. Bollocks, I'm not ready to upgrade a still decent card just to have native HDMI outputs. :(
I cannot for the life of me get any audio from my PC to play through the external speakers via receiver OR when just hooked up straight from the PC to the television. Here's the gear first:
TV: Sony KDL-EX500 (firmware already updated)
Sound card: Audigy 2 ZS (drivers as current as possible)...
As excited as I was for thousands of people to analyze what would finally determined to be a bird dropping, I guess I'll put my money with twig as well. Anticlimax. :(
I assume you meant the TSB 5.25" bookshelves for $78? I'm literally on my way out the door to work (stupid overnights) so I'm just going to hope the sub and/or speakers are still in stock and the sale is still on at 6AM. If not, I'll just say it wasn't meant to be and better things will come...
Crap, I just got home to see your post and it looks like I missed the boat a little! The two cheaper (but still great, from what [H]'ers have said) subwoofers they sell already sold out! There's still the big beastie tSc T300 which is a 300W with dual 10" drivers (too much for my room...
Well disregard what I mentioned about my friend trying to convince me there wasn't a dedicated connection for the sub(s), after a bit of my own looking, I see there are dual sub pre-outs, so I suppose I don't have anything to fear there.
Good to hear I'll be able to utilize the Klipsch's for a bit as stand-ins until more upgrades can come along in the coming year! I'm looking forward to taking similar steps towards better equipment as you have, though you probably knew a lot more coming out of the gates than I did. It's good to...
Thanks for the info, especially regarding the HD audio options. I had my doubts about it being a night-and-day difference from Dolby Digital or DTS, and since it'd require an upgrade to either my GPU or sound card, I suppose I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it.
I'm going to bite on...
Hi folks. Well after several years of excellent service, and right after I purchased a Blu-Ray drive for my PC, my Klipsch 5.1 Ultra subwoofer woofed its last, leaving me with just the speakers to carry on its legacy. I read up on the possible avenues of repair, but I'm taking this as a sign to...
Am I the only person who kept thinking of Goldeneye 64 when the music first kicked in? (about :26ish in)
It was nice and purty, though I'll hop on the bandwagon that thinks this doesn't seem to have much standout fanciness. Then again DX10 only really wowed me in Crysis with the lighting...
Long time between upgrades, but went from a BFG 6800 Ultra 256MB AGP to an EVGA GTX285SC. There aren't enough words to describe the awesome, of course. Hopefully I won't have to wait so long for my next card!
I will concur with Phil who has a near identical build to mine and say the 285 works juuuust fine. Finally got mine together a few days ago. Kudos on the cabling job! Those mains are just stiff as all hell! Where did you get those cable ties from? Or were they included with the case? Ah well...
Little chunk of info I got in my inbox today, FrozenCPU now has it up for preorder to ship Feb. 10th (states this is the product release date as well). Says 30 in stock right now for those of you deep-pocketed folks who want in.
Frozen has it priced at $139.99 (sans shipping) now instead of no price. If that ends up being the legit price (vs. the $102 on Provantage with no real picture) then I reckon it's a bit too rich for my blood. My new computer will mark my first time oc'ing which is scary enough w/o adding a $140...
Just saw this crop up as 'Coming Soon' at FrozenCPU. No price listed yet though. Seriously debating scooping the V10 instead of a TRUE Black if I can squeeze it into a P182! Anyone see it popping up anywhere else around the web? I'm getting excited now! :D
I just got an E-mail back from Performance PC's regarding putting the Enermax PSU in the P182 and they said "We checked and unless you remove the bottom divider and fan there is no way this PSU will fit the case.".
I'm not sure if they mean removing the whole metal divider or what exactly...
Wow that rig is already lookin' tight. Color me jealous! Can't wait to see it when it's all done.
With regards to the power supply, I looked into this a little further and found a thread where a fellow [H]'er picked up a computer from a certain controversial boutique builder and put up pics...
Definitely keeping an eye on this thread. Your hardware choices have been almost identical to the ones I've made but I'm only now ordering, so I'm very eager to see how your build goes and I wish you luck! Mine will be my first totally solo build so I have to ask, is everything going smoothly so...
I'm scooping a Rev85+ 850 like philhumphrey and was in the same boat wondering if it would fit in a P182 or not. Really wanted to put it into a 182SE and change out the sides and door like blom did though I looked at the URL posted and don't see P182 gunmetal sides and front doors available...
Pretty good settings, brencat! I ran my G2400WD out to my brother's place and tried it out with some Fallout 3 and L4D and they looked stunning! I was really concerned about blacks looking too gray coming from my old CRT, but this screen doesn't disappoint. I know there's better out there, but...
Just received my G2400WD from the recent NCIXUS deal. It's my first LCD ever. Coming from the 19" in my sig. I have a desk again! :D And no dead pixels that I can see *knock on wood*. Got the 'dead pixel policy' added just in case. Now to just get all my parts ordered for my new rig and feed it...
My Viewsonic A90f+ is spectacular at 75 Hz and up but I've been trapped in safemode at 60 Hz during it's dying throes the past week-and-a-half and web browsing for a new rig has had me reaching for the ibuprofen. When it still ran games, if I played any at 1600x1200 it wasn't too bad at all in...
S3 Virge (the name leapt out at me from other posts and brought back bad memories of a Packard Bell)
3D Blaster Voodoo 2 12MB (my first line off the mirror of PC upgrading...)
3D Blaster Voodoo 2 12MB #2 for SLI (that was my birthday and Christmas present combined one year... oy)...
If I ended up forsaking the true new hotness of i7 and instead went for a Q9550-based build, keeping non i7-related components, I was looking at something like this:
CPU - Intel Q9550 Retail ($320 @ Newegg)
HSF - Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and retention bracket(~$46 @ Newegg with bracket)
Mobo -...
