As is the case with Bulldozer launch, Kepler's near release (1-2 months) leaks are not inaccurate.
If the mid-end version is as good when it's out, I'll make sure to snatch that one, been a while since I use an nVidia card.
I'm also interested in Trinity, I want to create an SFF HTPC (preferably mini-ITX) with a bit more CPU power than Brazos, that can game a bit without the need for a discrete GPU, but something newer than Llano
and since AMD's new CEO focus is on execution time, well hopefully, if not, I'll...
I always thought Llano is best as HTPC when used as a mini ITX box. You got a quite portable box that does any HTPC task.
Some of Lian Li ITX cases are especially good with lots of drive bays for RAID storage if you need one.
Wonderful, never thought an FX could be made quite competitive,
Now if they would just release a Piledriver CPU (or APU) that is more power efficient, I'll be jumping onboard.
oh... this is like one of those news article with exciting title,
I'm willing to wait for Kepler and Ivy Bridge until June to decide the parts for my next system, hopefully it's released then so I can have a choice.
There are lots of jobs that doesn't require coding, so it shouldn't be mandatory, due to several health problems related to computer, I imagine children would be more sensitive to these problems. This will only improve the income of health industry even more, therefore any decision to make...
wow, holy f*ck AMD Graphics division, they have even lots more *enthusiast* features cooking for Q1 2012,

I'll be waiting...
With rumored overclockability, I'll be waiting reviews to see if overclocking can bring 30% or more advantage in performance compared to GTX 580. And then I can finally recommend this card.
I don't buy cards over $300, 'cause I game mostly on 1080p, but some of my friends are eyefinity gamers...
I'm quite content with my current system, I haven't actually tried a system with SSD, I'm currently using a Seagate Hybrid,
so I'm curious how would it feel to have run my system with true SSD, well, unless of course (as always) it's US only since I'm not currently in the US.
I've tried exhausting the air to the top in my old PC using Xigmatek S1283, but the cooling is sub-optimal, cause there are larger areas of the proc that doesn't have contact with the heatsink base. I bought the ACK775 mounting kit and rotate it to the back.
So it depends on coverage of the...
There would be decent performance improvement compared to 9950BE, especially power efficiency with better power gating. The only problem with AM3+ is looking for a decent mATX board (ASRock 890GM Pro3 R2.0 seems okay, but no review utilising AMD FX),
if you prefer mATX, might be best to go...
There are opinions that the strategy of labeling Zambezi with FX label is bad marketing, since FX has always been known for top performance parts, but some real world tests has shown that it doesn't actually have significant improvement in terms of performance compared to previous offerings.
My...
@firas - interesting read, although it remains to be seen whether their solution will really help performance for the masses.
I wonder if anyone ever thought about disabling some cores and since disabling cores will improve overclockability, let's see how high can it go as tri-core, and how good...
I think most successful small companies break forward cause they're passionate about their products, seems AMD has lost that, and if they don't take the right steps and start to fix that, they'll be reduced to even smaller company after this.
Here's hoping their (somewhat) new CEO is passionate...
Zambezi is a marketing fail, but well, if they'd have used Phenom II X8 or *gasp* Athlon II X8 as their branding, nobody would complain it's an octa-core. So the use of FX is more of a fail than the use of octa-core as marketing.
Maybe they do want to kill the FX brand especially with the next release of AM3+ processor which will be the last of AMD CPU lines, at least for desktop, because they will pursue the APU lines for desktop after that, and may not want to use the FX brand any longer.
/half-sarcasm
the IFs,
IF there's some kindof driver so that Windows 7 only see 4 threads - the driver manages scheduling in each modules' cores internally,
IF there's some kindof driver that optimizes scheduling of Windows 7.
IF somehow Windows 8 preview already have optimized scheduling, it could be used...
I think you might want to look at system with AMD E-350 APU, good system for what you describe, and your budget, might even cost less. These days onboard/on-chip Graphics is good enough, that you don't need to add a Video Card, at least for the task you describe they're more than enough.
The...
