I've had problems like that when running LAN parties. We've solved the issue by getting a long extension cord to run to power outlets on different circuit breakers and splitting the PCs up.
Since your monitors are 1920x1080, you can use the $27 Active DisplayPort adapter. If you had a higher resolution or Hz, you would need the $100 adapter.
I have three 1080P monitors and the $27 adapter works just fine. It's a minor consolation for having the inferior resolution of 1920x1080...
1. Either
2. The (Performance / Price) ratio is the most important thing to me.
3. Yes, but I don't upgrade to a new $500 card with every generation release. I upgrade when the games I play start to show some performance drops.
4. I make extensive use of reviews.
Doesn't really matter how much of the internet community he has for moral support; if the judge is willing to give Sony everything they want, he's screwed if he stays in America.
Did anyone order this from Amazon and actually get it? I made the mistake of ordering on Amazon instead of Newegg since I get free 2-day shipping with Prime, but didn't realize it was sold by "The Price Pros" and only fulfilled by Amazon so it had an estimated 3+ weeks before it shipped out . ...
This build is the [H]ardest of the [H]ard. Sub'd.
Looking forward to seeing more pictures and info as you get it all setup and play around with it more :)
This is correct. Any 5000/6000 series card can support a maximum of two non-displayport monitors. However, some of the cards only have a single displayport on the card itself, so be aware. For example, the 5770 has only 1 displayport port on the card, so it can power a maximum of 3 monitors...
I've had no driver and compatibility issues at all with my 5770s.
A few months ago I had the cursor corruption bug that plagued multi-monitor setups, but it hasn't shown up for a long time with more recent drivers.
I use the Sapphire adapter which is on Newegg for $27 shipped, and it works just fine. I'm sure the Asus one works fine as well--by this point it seems that most of the issues with active DP adapters have been sorted out.
Yes, this card only has 2 clockgens, so you will need active DP adapters for any more monitors. But fortunately the adapters only cost $30 now, so it's not as big of a deal as it was last year.
Blah, I ordered mine from Amazon figuring it'd be faster with free 2-day Prime shipping. Turns out it's fulfilled by someone else so it won't arrive for like 1.5 weeks
The same deal's on Amazon. I bit with free 2-day Prime shipping, since I'll be able to replace my three 5770s with this one card and still run all of my monitors.
Now who wants to buy one of my 5770s? :D
Well, just re-submitted my application. I'd love so much to get one of these. My laptop is heavy and doesn't have great battery life, and I already use Cloud services for most of my files so this would fit right in with my usage patterns. Keeping my fingers crossed . . .
Is it mandatory to get a data plan with this? I suppose it'd kinda defeat the purpose to not buy a data plan, but +$30 per month for 2 years is an extra $720 in service costs. :(
I feel so disappointed. I don't know why, but for some reason I felt like I actually had a decent chance of getting one of these. And the fact that there are a bunch of people who signed up and don't care / aren't using it / are selling it makes it that much more painful :(
According to the stat tracker, they've shipped ~15,000 now. The rumor is that they'll give out ~60,000, so there's still hope (assuming the stat checker and the rumors are true).
Still nothing for me, though :(
I'm considering getting this just for my folding farm, but in general I'm usually nervous about having a lot of the purchase tied up in mail in rebates, and having not one but two rebates makes it even sketchier.
