Noooo.... I love AIM. Everything since then is a step backwards. AIM can have dedicated and secure single or group chats, text, video, and it can share pictures and files. Heck, I've transferred 12GBof files to a roommate in under 5 minutes with it via a switch. If you think there's really...
The controls aren't aiming at a certain "mentality" per se, but at familiarity. If soldiers already understand and user an XBox controller, why reinvent the wheel when we can just reuse something with minimal training?
I enjoy being able to feel the explosions. Myself and my brother also enjoy listening to heavy metal such as Parkway Drive or August Burns Red as we play online shooters. You lose some sense of sound, but it helps to focus.
I believe Righthaven was one of the companies that sent out mass settlement letters against suspected copyright breakers. When they got caught, they were shut down for all intents and purposes.
Oh, I completely agree that it should be under civilian control. I am receiving my commission in May this year, so I have learned and understand why that is. I was talking about the more day to day stuff that falls under the regs and UCMJ that they handle internally, not something on the scale...
The military, also known as the profession of arms, self-regulates and has done so for hundreds or thousands of years. That's what makes a profession a profession. Yeah, outside oversight can be useful, but the profession itself is in the best position to regulate and is the subject matter...
It won't affect residential users who have a high PF. However, some industries have a terrible PF due to their use of large electric motors and such, and will be billed extra by the power company.
As you may know, AC power is a Sin wave that travels between a positive and negative voltage. For example, standard US power is +-120Vrms at 60Hz. I think Europe is +-240Vrms at 50Hz. However, you cannot simply multiply 120V by the current drawn. AC is actually a voltage wave and a current...
Yes, I agree. Until you get scoped weapons, vanilla Stalker sucks. I was referring to the gunplay in FEAR, in which all of the weapons felt great and I could use every weapons equally well. In fact, the basic SMG was the most useful weapon in the endgame.
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl and FEAR 1 would top my list for scariest games, due to a great mixture of atmosphere and sudden shocks. Also, the gameplay of Stalker was awesome and I have yet to play a shooter with as tight and balanced gunplay as in the original FEAR.
Good God, I don't even know where to start on this one. Moral, ethical, legal, common sense... no matter how you look at it, this is a BAD idea. Too bad it'll probably go through. :(
LOL. That's actually kinda funny. :p
But in all seriousness, let the man rest in peace. Not a fan of Jobs, but he deserves better than that and Westboro can DIAF.
Heh, that's a very good analogy. Actually, I was thinking that the "top 5%" is somewhat arbitrary and the standard should be set against absolute numbers instead. Imagine if you got taxed year to year based upon your relative income rather than a fixed and absolute tax bracket.
Not in this case. You can see at the beginning of the game footage at 0:37 that the film is labelled as "IRA film 1988." The narrator also described it as "the terrorist's own footage of 1988." Simulations and models are great so long as there recreation does not claim to be original footage...
Why? While HDDs may be much slower and less energy efficient than SSDs, their storage density is matched only by magnetic tape. Which, by the way, is still used for massive archiving in data centers.
This is one of the reasons why I love Steam. At school over the summer, when only a handful of people are on the network, I can get upwards of 11-11.5MB/s down consistently (yes, with a capital B). :D I think that's pretty close to the limits of my switches and network here. I wonder what the...
I'm from NH, and outages are common in the winter. 1-3 days is pretty normal, and 5-7 days every year or two is not unheard of. Heck, some places have lost power for 7-10 days straight in the past 5-10 years. It sucks, but people figure out how to live with it.
Fortunately, my dad...
I propose that they play an EA sponsored BF3 match - the first match for BF3 streamed live to the public. Bethesda can settle its dispute if it wins, Minecraft doesn't pay layer fees, and EA gets lots (more) cheap publicity. Everyone wins!
Yes, but it is easier to "fire" the driver and quietly give him a nice bonus for taking the fall than to deal with the public backlash against their program. Could really have been human error, but I'd be interested to see the police report on what actually happened.
Eh, I was skeptical when I saw the title, but after actually reading the details it sounds like a good program. $150 for a netbook plus $10 per month for 1.5Mbs down and 384kbs up? That may actually help out a lot of people to get at least some kind of connection for education. Hope it works...
I think that a foil or metal cage helps some, but I'm not 100% certain. You'd best read up on it. I do know that a big concern is power surges and brownouts on the power and communications grids, so you ought to look into a good UPS and surge protector for your sensitive equipment.
