How do I access internal network through an MDU remotely?

I had the same issue at one of my apartments. My solution was to get a UBNT Edgemax light router and a VPS. Then i setup a VPN tunnel between the two and set certain traffic to route out the VPN tunnel. I kept having issues with SSH when i was double natted and the router/firewall/hotspot thing...

Inexplicable connection timeouts on my internet

I had an issue like this on my comcast connection. It turned out to be that the connection was split to many times before it reached the modem. The modem showed that it would lose sync and then reboot after a bit. However my signal levels where worse then yours. Can you see the modems logs and...

Need help with a Sophos UTM

Oh yes don't forget that especially if you enable web filtering. I had to add rules in for netflix and a couple of devices like the roku and wd live tv before it would work correctly.

Need help with a Sophos UTM

By default Sophos blocks all outgoing ports so you need to make sure that whatever port the NAS is trying to communicate on is allowed out. I don't use that function on my synology but i had the same problem with my nest and philips hue lights when i setup my sophos UTM.

Are there any reasonably priced per U colocation services for enthusiasts?

Ah good i had been contemplating trying them but i think i'll pass based off of that. Datashack and WSI are almost the same company from what i've seen. I'm going to be losing two of my servers i have colo'd in CA for free and to replace them i've been contemplating a OVH server.

Are there any reasonably priced per U colocation services for enthusiasts?

Its a decent host for the price. Apparently if you get compromised they have been known to just shut off access. I haven't had any down time and the speeds are decent the majority of the time. I use ESXi and run my lab, gaming, and mumble server on it. None of my friends have complained so far...

I'm going to guess datashack in Kansas City and soyoustart/ovh in Canada. I pay $59 for a dedicated server at datashack.

    Outside Wireless Antenna's

In Northern California it is a fairly common thing as they "blend" them in with the surrounding trees. Here is a picture of one. Some stop lights have wireless units on them depending on the location.

    Upgrading pfsense

The nano release is for embedded devices usually as it is meant for install on a CF card. I had to look at this for the specificspage. The VGA file means it uses the VGA output instead of just the serial console. Depending on the way you installed it originally you are probably best off using...

Another Dumb Criminal of the Day

wow thats pretty bad...the cellebrite i used at radioshack could transfer 100pics in less then 15mins. The only time we would see the pictures is if the phone decided to go into slideshow mode when the cellebrite started the transfer. It was rare but it did happen.

dslextreme or sonic(if your in CA as far as i know) might have been able to give you service...only downside is at&t still owns the lines so any service calls that require a truck roll have to go through at&t but since dslextreme is the actual customer only they are allowed to schedule the truck...

Astaro Home > Torrent rules ?

Ya I had the same thing going to protect my WHS, but then I changed it out to more of a media pc. Only difference between this install and the last was I had the 64 bit install and today I used...

Astaro Home > Torrent rules ?

Turning it off was the simplest solution I found on the astaro forum. I would assume that if i added my torrent ports to the exception list it would let them through. I never played with it though as it is not something that I do a lot now.

Astaro Home > Torrent rules ?

I believe you have it backwards. the Source should be the internet(Internet IPv4) and the traffic destination should be the internal network and then the destination should be the computer running utorrent. Thats how mines setup. I would think though you could make the traffic destination be the...

    FreeNAS vs Amahi?

I have used them both, but it was when amahi was just entering beta. Both are pretty good, but FreeNAS is more of a NAS only option. While amahi is more like a windows home server. There is also one called openfiler, but I have never played with it. I liked freenas over amahi just because I...

    Anyone into computer forensics?

Anyone tried Open-Mesh's OM1P or their service before?

Yes i used it with an engenious 2610 and a 5610. We where going to deploy the 5610 with it, but the openmesh firmware didn't work correctly with the 5610. It had a problem with the power output not being right compared to stock engenious firmware. The 2610 though works really well with it. My...
