I have the Gaming 5, as it was a bundle deal from Newegg on launch day. I'm not concerned about the M.2 limitation, but understand that others may be. I do, however, very much feel like a black-sheep at the moment. Seems very, very few people have bought these boards, and I am anxious to try...
I went with a Gigabyte board for my X99 setup, so I'll stay out of that argument.
I did pick up a H110 as my cooling option. It's a bit of a pain to install, but not ridiculous. It helps to have someone give you a hand. The problem is trying to line up the fan, radiator and case mounting...
Agree with sharknice; we need a better description or a picture. There are a TON of different arms and mounts out there. Heres just one example: http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-60106-Desk-Mount-Panel-Monitor/dp/B00008ELL4
I too, am in the market for a new monitor, and cant really find a good answer for what I want, or find a lot of conflicting information. I had my mind set on the Dell S2740L until I started reading about the ghosing problems.
More info:
Current Monitor: Acer AL2216W
Will be used for...
I dont run water cooling, but I'm still sad to see them close. DD has been around for as long as I can remember, and always had great buzz on the forums.
Picked mine up this morning and loving it so far. Grabbed Lego Clone Wars and Samurai Warriors. Played with the AR cards and the camera a fair bit as well. I'm actually liking the 3D a lot more than I though I would, it works very well.
For me it all depends on what is offered for how much money. $5 a month like mentioned in the article is about all I would be willing to dish out. As others have said, they arent the only FPS around I can always go elsewhere.
Had mine for almost 2 years and no problems with the window. Looks like the screws may have been overly tightened and slowly cause the cracks. I'd contact SS about it and see if they can help.
^ +1
Also, run memtest ( http://www.memtest86.com/ ) and HDFT ( http://www.hitachigst.com/support/downloads/#DFT ). Run check disk on your drive. When was the last time you cleaned the computer? Dust buildup on the heatsinks may be causing overheat issues. Check all this, and report back...
Just installed mine yesterday, ordered last week when they were $230 and Newegg game me a code so mine ended up being $218 shipped. That was a deal. This deal, is too good to pass up. If you've been sitting on the fence about going SSD, the time to act is now my friends.
Installed and running today. A very noticeable improvement over my VR, but not a "OMG!!" improvement. Windows does load and shutdown much faster, and just general responsiveness is greatly improved. Installing MW2 to test out now, to see if any noticeable difference in a game.
Oh, wait, did you drill holes in it? You may have metal shards left over from the mod that are shorting somewhere in the case. Try blowing the case out REALLY well with an air compressor if you havent done so already.
My understanding is that the rears should actually be located behind you if at all possible, as seen in the guide here: http://www.dolby.com/consumer/setup/speaker-setup-guide/index.html under 5.1. That being said, and given what you have to work with, I think the YPAO should be able to...
If it runs fine on the bench, almost has to be a short. Look for standoffs that are not properly screwed down, ones that are extra, or ones that are missing. Try running the system with only the motherboard, processor, one stick of RAM and video. If that works, add things back into the case...
I went the opposite Siryak, funny enough, and got the G.Skill Phoenix Pro. Also should be here tomorrow :)
From what I can tell, it all boils down to the company you like better. I researched everything for more than a week, and after deciding that G.Skill memory has always been rock solid...
Have to echo above. Heatsink first if you plan on overclocking. SSD second, or if no overclocking is going to happen. I just jumped on the SSD bandwagon myself, should be here tomorrow.
I would suggest this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122326&cm_re=netgear_router-_-33-122-326-_-Product
and a good N MIMO wireless card. Set the Netgear up for the dual band and place the HTPC on one network by itself. I've got the Netgear myself, and its a...
Remember I'm out of the loop, but from the tests I can remember that included Zalman, they tended to fall in the middle as far as cooling goes. Not bad, and definetly better than stock. I think they were considered a good value option.
I think ultimately its going to depend on how far you...
Definetly consider getting a new cooler then. Sucks after you have your system together because you will mostly have to install a backplate. I'm out of the loop on i7 coolers ATM, so cant help much there. I know the TRUE 120 is still highly praised, as is the Cogage TRUE spirit and the...
First, are you using a stock cooler? If so, dont expect to get very far safely.
-Best way to overclock is in the BIOS and then test in Windows
-IMHO yes, you sould step the OC up a little at a time, test, and then step up again. Some people perfer to "shoot the moon" and go for a large...
