I don't have my forte connected to a receiver, but when I enable DDL through the audio control panel, windows sound changes to 5.1 and the SPDIF out shows up when I click the sound icon in the system tray. I also see this when i click on Mixer.
If you can't figure it out, I'd suggest...
Right click Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > under Startup and Recovery click Settings
You can also adjust the time that the bootloader waits until it loads the default OS.
Oh my god it worked!
I folded over a paper towel and cut out a piece small enough to fit under the backplate where it screws into the case. It was enough to separate the backplate from the case and voila! No more buzzing noise. I only hear a little bit of noise during the crysis menu, which...
That is pretty ghetto! I think I'm going to start with the screw and the backplate, as Knuit suggested:
This thread may lead me to the last day with my xtrememusic, which has started to screech every once in awhile. I bought this forte to replace it and I want it to work right, dammit!
I understand what you mean. I don't remember if I ever heard cpu or hdd noise, but I'm planning on tackling this problem sometime this week and will look for those symptoms.
I assume you are talking about coil noise? I can't hear anything over the low woosh of my case fans, so I agree that it is more likely to be bus/power related. I don't hear any noise outside the case, only through my headphones when the gpu is loaded. If it was RFI, I would think that my...
I had the same problem: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1430215
My "solution" was to go back to my x-fi xtreme music. I submitted a support ticket to auzentech, and they gave me a checklist to go through, with taping the bracket as a proposed solution. I haven't tried this yet after the...
What's the patching order for the game now?
Retail bf2>sf>1.41>1.5?
I own a copy of the booster packs, but since they are in the patch there should be nothing missing, right?
Cpu is at stock speeds (3Ghz). The gtx260 is the 55nm, 216sp version. The 9600gt is left over from an old build and it pains me to see it sitting in a box. Mobo is the ma790x-ud4p. The rest of the system includes 2 hdds and an optical drive, housed in a p183 with 4 fans.
The HX520 powers the...
Just tried it with cod4 (set to 5.1 ingame) and the positioning is excellent. But it sounds slightly muffled compared to the regular 2 channel audio. I remember doing this a long time ago with source games, and I preferred the headphone audio setting to 5.1 + CMSS-3D.
I think I prefer a good...
Here's an update, for what it's worth:
I uninstalled the forte and its drivers, installed the xtrememusic and its drivers, and now have noise-free sound at all volumes and gpu loads. I don't think the problem is related to the sound cards themselves (as neither have shielding like the...
I'm having exactly the same problem with my forte: annoying noise from the headphone jack on the back of the card whenever my gpu (gtx 260) isn't idling. I tried my realtek onboard audio (Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P) and it was pin drop silent at any gpu load. Use of the front panel output for both...
While trying to resolve a looping audio issue with dead space on XP, I came across a solution that involved removing a 'ghost' modem sound driver (weird, I know) that existed despite the fact that the modem was physically removed awhile ago. Well, now my x-fi xtrememusic exhibits annoying static...
