Heh, I see you said the same thing I did while I was typing. :)
Since I've been using this video card for around 6 months, I'm guessing I'm not going to be able to return it or exchange it for a blower-style card. :(
I'm not completely convinced that adding exhaust fans is going to help.
Here's a picture of the inside of my case:
As you can see, the video card itself makes a pretty decent airflow divider in the case. The intake fan is just barely blowing any air into the area above the card at all...
Yeah, I'm running the 180mm at it's max speed.
I'm using an AIO water CPU cooler, and I have the radiator installed on the rear 120 fan. Right now it's the standard cheap Cooler Master high static pressure fan, I've considered swapping in something pricier like a Corsair SP120 or a Gentle...
I've been using my MSI GTX970 (the black 4GD5T OC version) since November with no issues in my Silverstone TJ-08E mATX case, running everything at pretty much max settings at 1920x1200. It got a little warmer than most reviews showed the TwinFrozr V getting, but I figured it was natural to run a...
I have done some pretty extensive experimentation on my NAS with both 3 and 4 drive RAID arrays.
First off, I've been very happy with my Dell PERC 5i RAID controller. It's fast, powerful, and commonly available on eBay for cheap. This card does not support RAID6, but it's inadvisable to run...
Yeah, I've seen one or two Android apps unexpectedly pop up a SU prompt on my Nexus 7. If you grant the app root, it gives you an error message. If you click "no," it runs as normal. The Blizzard Authenticator app does this for example.
If you take a look at the documentation from AV-Test, you'll see that MSSE, like all the other products they tested, detected 100% of known viruses. What it "failed" on was in the detection of newly written zero-day exploits (that were not yet in the wild) that AV-Test either found or wrote...
It sounds like the desperate guys at Interplay (you know, the ones trying to hang on to the Fallout MMO license even though they clearly haven't done anything with it) are now trying to cash in on the Black Isle name. As far as I know, most of the people from the "original" Black Isle now work...
I used the Upgrade Assistant as many others have. I let it download in the background on my Win7 machine while I ordered car parts. After the D/L, I got the upgrade started and then went and took a shower. The install was complete when I got back the machine. No idea what this guy's problem is.
It's also how the game doles out minor bonuses as you progress. Every so many Badass ranks gets you a small (<1%) boost to a stat for all of your characters.
I respec'ed my Gunzerker last night and didn't have any issues with my Badass rank.
I have been having connection issues though. Good to hear there's a patch; I'll have to try it out after work.
My Zune 80 from 2007 died about a month ago and I could not find anything comparable to replace it with.
I have about 40GB of music and I value the ability to take all of it with me. This precludes most (but not all) flash-based players.
I tried using my Android phone, but the audio quality...
That was my first thought, if they can use that cover as a giant heat spreader then it might work pretty well at keeping things cool. It still looks pretty silly and as others have already pointed out, makes it impossible to inspect your caps etc.
Thanks for the link. A mini-ITX system seems incredibly appealing to me after years of large mid-tower systems. My current machine has only a video card and Intel NIC installed - I use a Cosair USB headset for audio. The Asus mini-ITX mobo the author of the article mentions has an Intel NIC...
I'm still running a stock clock Q9550 as my main rig. My problem recently has been RAM. I had a few 2GB sticks of DDR2 go bad, so now I'm running 2x2GB + 2x1GB modules. The cost of DDR2 is such that I can't justify replacing the sticks, and none of the sticks I have left are at all happy...
Is that a Youtube *video* of a single still image and an audio track, or is my Flash install broken? C'mon Bioware, that's like driving a semi truck to the corner mart for a gallon of milk.
On topic, I think I'm beyond caring about the ending now. After not thinking about Mass Effect for a...
This doesn't seem like that bad of an idea. I would never set it up the way he has, but using the tank water to cool the water in a separate closed-loop system might work well. Possibly a few loops of copper tubing submerged in the tank. My toilet tank is always cool to the touch - I...
I'm interested to see if this is true. I've been holding off on upgrading my Core 2 Quad Q9550 for Ivy Bridge. Up until very recently I've not seen any reason to upgrade, but with games like Skyrim and SWTOR, I have been CPU bottlenecked so it's time to move on.
I'm sure I'd be quite happy...
If you go to Services->Support->Download->Option 3-Select Model Manually-"Start" and go through and select the ENGTX560 Ti Series from the Graphic Card->nVidia list, the BIOS update you can download from this page worked for me.
Naturally, FurMark is a self-billed "torture test," so I would expect it to exceed normal, legitimate temps, but it can do this consistently - ie, it's not dependent on driver versions or specific games, it will always try to max out your card. That's where the perceived value for me is.
My...
I was curious what temps you get in FurMark. My 560 Ti DirectCU II TOP JD PhD Esq was getting uncomfortably close to 85C. I pulled the HS off and re-TIMed it with AS Ceramique, which did result in a lowering of temperatures. I can't get it to go over 80C now, which still seems pretty hot for...
Note that they say Google Profile, *not* Google+ Profile, unless I'm reading the article wrong. Everyone with a Google account has a Google Profile and has for a while, it's not related to Google+. You can find yours at http://profiles.google.com/<Your Google account here>.
Unlike my Facebook...
I've been able to acquire a pair of mid-80's Lexmark Model Ms. I'm moving from an ABS M1 that I purchased as an "intro" to mechanical keyboards. I like the feedback from the Ms, but I find myself capitalizing two characters instead of one (DOuble CApitals). I have not had this issue with any...
I think you guys are missing the obvious foot-in-mouth point - I don't know of any ISP that does server-side virus filtering. So if he's saying that ISPs should filter out pirated material the same way that they filter out viruses, is he saying that ISPs shouldn't filter out either one?
Going just by the figures in the summary, $310 mil / 4.7 mil copies = average cost of $65.96 per copy. I guess a lot of people are buying the "special editions" to push the average up that much.
Personally I didn't buy it. I can't see spending $60 on a 7 hour game. The multiplayer never...
Hello all,
I've built several systems for myself, but I'd never really payed too much attention to cable routing before, but I was inspired by the pictures on this thread and pg.19 especially. Here are some pictures of my new P182 build. I'd welcome any comments or suggestions.
I'm...
