Oh, that's a real shame they've gone and changed components for the worse... was about to grab one.
Will keep an eye out for a better quality at this sort of price!
Or clone it as suggested to the same size, then use Mini Tool Partition Wizard (https://www.partitionwizard.com/) after the fact and expand the drive to maximum available... it's free and completely reliable.
Not sure whether here is the right place to ask, but I've got an Areca 1882ix-16 (battery doesn't seem to register) that I have finished using. Has 4 breakout cables to run 16 Sata drives, and wondering what the card and cables together might be worth to sell? Have had it for several years now...
Cheers...
I think he (certainly I) was trying to suss out whether two 9260i cards could (working together) run a Raid6 array for instance, with a total of 16 drives in the (single) array.
AFAIK they cannot.
Thanks for the speedy response...
So I should set up a bit of a test with my 4 x spare 3Tb drives in something speedy like Raid0 ? and test on the card and then on the expander?
Had a quick read through this fantastic thread, looking for comments on speed differences/comparisons between the same array connected to a raid card and then to an HP (green pcb) SAS expander.
I presently have 8 x 3Tb Hitachi drives in a raid6 array on an LSI 8260-8i. I consistently get...
Sadly no... (having ended up with a pair of 9260i cards myself thinking it might work), but you can add a SAS expander, which will allow you to feed the pair of ports from your card to the expander, which in turn, multiplies it from 2 ports (in my case) to 6 ports (so maximum goes from 8 drives...
I have just bought an Norco RPC-4020 case to house my existing raid6 array in, along with a bunch of additional drives. After moving it all across, the LSI Raid BIOS says the drives have gone.

Still can't decide between a socket 2011-based setup (3930k probably) with 4 x 4Gb quad-channel ram, or a 4770k and 2 x 8Gb dual channel (both sets are 2133Mhz).
I don't game at all, but like to have a nice smooth system. Either way, I'd like to be sitting on 4.5ish Ghz.
Value any...
Just bought a new Dell XPS15 with a 32Gb msata and a 1Tb 5400rpm platter drive.
I researched an earlier thread in the Dell forum discussing replacing the msata drive and the process required to do so, I figured I would a cloning approach, to see if I could use a 120Gb Intel msata drive as the...
I have six of the Hitachi 7k3000 drives attached to my Intel SRCSASPH16I card...
They only show up as 2Tb each, so I guess I'm screwed until Intel comes up with some new firmware.
Until I found this thread, I thought maybe I was meant to jumper the drives or something, but now I'm guessing...
