starchazer, if the card overheats it should fail, but don't think it will shutdown, it should recover catalyst, or freeze, never shutdown I suspect something else, what you are describing sounds more like the cpu is overheating and shutting down the pc. to test the video card, lower the clock...

tomiboy59, base on the info you state, I would just wait until you build the new unit, IMO thats the best option, with that card there is really no game you cannot play really, but if you want a bit of more performance, its a bit faster, specially with AA, so it will give a bit better...
