So I found something that somewhat works for me on my end. Its not a fix, but it keeps the clock from changing for me. When I use the evga software and enable kboost, my clock does not drop down. I also have the same fan issues as you.

Wow, thanks for the info, I am going to check this out for sure. Did you use the 3a-rev2 bios? This seemed to work, but I think it was a placebo effect. I am back to having the gpu clock issue.

@Galaxy - Every time I would exit a game (Arma 3 or Bf3) and started something new my O.C. wouldn't stick....I'd have to manually apply the O.C. and voltage again (by alt-tabbing) out of the new game.

passive cooling is just a heatsink - no fan. (or possibly water) I'd use the fan, it didn't mess with anything on my setup.

hmm weird about the sounds issue. I rid myself of the rounding errors at 3.2 by going to 1.3375 vcore (1.296 via cpuz), 2.11mem, 1.42 HT, 1.42 NB, and SB at auto. This will run prime for over two hours. But I still do get crysis to go whacky on me after awhile. I'm thinking I'll up my NB a...

Are you using the onboard sound? That's been pretty common when I have used it (i don't). Its usually not that bad though. So did you stop at 3.2? I can get windows stable at 3.6 but for some reason it won't run prime95 (the program errors out, not windows) and Orthos will run, but...

Check you pm's I sent two because I didn't come here and read your post first. High pitched noise? ??? No.....is the chipset fan working ok? That's the only thing I can think of? If you plug the fan into the "power" fan prong instead of the chassis one the rpm's go crazy.

that's not terrible, i would try dropping that from your bios and see if it helps with your temps.

Well I think your vcore is a little high? I'd try and drop that a bit, on mine at 1800 fsb my vcore is only at 1.3 (reading from cpuz) and tonight I'm going to try and actually drop that. The one thing that made a huge difference for me at getting the system stable was putting the HT voltage...

You could go with the Asus P5N-D, it's an 750i (basically a 650i with some extras), it will run all the 45nm quads. I bought it off of newegg for around 139.00.

Not that I know of, I'm hesitant to mess with that stuff unless I know there is an issue with it. I would, if you haven't already, attach the optional fan to the NB and see what kind of temps you get. It does not interfere with my cpu fan/heatsink.

Maybe take a look at a new cooler/heatsink? The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro was around 30$ on Newegg. That's what I'm using.

what are your clocks at? I'm using the Q9450 running at 3.6 (working at getting it stable) fsb 1800, and my cpu temps get to about 65c (coretemp or 55c realtemp) under load. my mobo doesn't get much about 40c. The max i've seen is 42c. I have the fan installed on the NB.

To anyone else that had one come in from Microcenter, did the top of your CPU look scuffed or scratched? (I really should have taken a pic when it came in) Other than that I have no complaints. I'm running steady at 3.2, I'll be pushing for 3.6 later on this week.
