    Crucial RMA Experiences?

Great experience, just completed the RMA process. I have 4x1GB DDR2-800 Tracers. I started getting random reboots and narrowed it to one module. I did the RMA request for the kit (2 modules) with the defective module. 2 days later I got the authorization and they mentioned voltage spec change...

Enable BIOS Memory Remap Option with XP 32 bit?

I have Vista 32bit with 4x1GB. I've always left remapping at its default (enabled), because Vista reports 3,3xxMB accessible. When I read this thread, and particularly Big Lar's post, I went ahead and benchmarked my RAM with it enabled, rebooted and disabled remapping and benchmarked again...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

nomade1999, I just read the posts you linked to, and it seems you did the pencil mod, although it seems like you might try reapplying as there is quite a bit of drop. For me, if I go one step higher with vcore there is 0 v. drop, and 0.008 at my stable voltage (lowest I can go). Anyway I'm...

KillaChaos, I also had the same issue with Vista and sleep, and if I remember correctly it used to even crash sometimes. But before hitting the reply button just now I tested sleep again and for the first time it seem to have worked with no 100% fan speed or crashing issues. The only thing I can...

    BenQ G2400W

I noticed that the image isn't as sharp with VGA compared to DVI. The blurriness is more noticeable on text. I don't think you'd even be able to notice it while gaming or watching movies, because it isn't too severe. I also once used the screen with my laptop (Ati 9700 VGA out) and the...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

You mean the older D9 run hotter than the new single sided ones? Are the new ones failing memtest? Well it wasn't that great for me either, after all. Stress testing causes a reboot after a while. CPU isn't running too hot. Memtest isn't generating any errors on the same settings with all 4...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

Vengance_01, I'm gonna guess that you didn't have an issue with running 4 sticks like I did, based on what I found. Since you're running at 1:1 FSB to RAM. So I tried increasing the NB voltage, I only went 2 notches up but that didn't work. Before trying any further, I tried 2.1v for the RAM...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

Thanx for the quick response. Ya both pairs (old and new) are single sided, but they are different batch numbers obviously since they were bought about 2 months apart. But the part numbers and UPC are the same. I'll give the north bridge voltage a try. Thanx for the suggestion. Currently I...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

I had 2x1GB Ballistix Tracers PC2-6400. Today I received another pair (I know not the best RAM but it was toooo cheap not to buy :p) and it seems I cannot run 4 sticks at the same voltage setting as before with 2 sticks. Before with 2 sticks 1.98v was rock solid stable, 1.96v would...

    BenQ V2400W In Depth Review

10e, nice review :) I'm not sure if I missed it with my quick read thru, but how do viewing angles compare to the G2400W?

    BenQ G2400W

The monitor has a resolution of 1200 pixels along the vertical. 1080p is 1080 pixels along the vertical. So you should have an extra 120 pixels, 60 from the top and 60 from the bottom, hence the bars. Unless you use 1:1 or "Aspect" setting your input will be stretched in the vertical direction.

    BenQ G2400W hookup question

I believe you can have 3 inputs and switch between them. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. It's just that I tried it with only 2. Sorry if I confused you with what I said.

    BenQ G2400W

Considering the price difference and the fact that this screen has accurate enough colors and good viewing angles compared to other TNs, I am pretty happy with it. Sure I'd rather have an IPS but I don't feel like paying the price :D. At work I have a 20" IPS, and honestly I'm starting to...

    BenQ G2400W hookup question

Switching is done with one button, no need to navigate thru the menus. You can have 2 active inputs at the same time and just switch between them by pressing the "Enter" button (It's a shortcut, other buttons are also shortcuts for other common functions). I tried it with my laptop connected...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

I noticed that when I shutdown my PC the USB ports remain powered. I have a 2.5' HDD connected, and a USB hub that is power sensitive (it unpowers the ports on it when the PC is turned off) that stays on even after I switch off the PC. If I unpower the PSU after I shutdown and wait a few...

    BenQ G2400W

I hope it doesn't ship from too far away. I got mine (W) from newegg and it only had to travel 100-150miles, arrived in 1 day. Yet UPS managed to put a hole thru the box but not the screen, and the seal on the box was completely broken as if it was open. But I trust newegg won't try to sell an...

    BenQ G2400W

That looks interesting. I'm currently using a text book to boost my G2400W about 1.5 inches. Do you know the dimensions of the base? mainly the diameter of that circle on the bottom, it seems a bit tiny for it to be stable ... but I could be wrong. Technical Details * Weight Support...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

I believe that was directed at me :p. Yes I know, that is also another reason why I am hesitant. For now everything is nice and cool, but I am running on the built-in gfx, once I get a 9600GT (hopefully soon) and with 4 Tracers in close proximity it might start to get toasty in there. 4GB is a...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

It was mentioned multiple times in this thread that OCing with 4x1GB is problematic compared to 2x1GB. Does that mean you cannot OC at all or just not extreme OCing? Cannot OC RAM and CPU or just RAM? DDR2 prices are very low, so I was thinking of getting another pair of 1GB Tracers on top of...

Would an XFX 8800 GS fit in a Microfly case

Yup I posted as I was still making my final decission. The 9600GT is indeed better and doesn't cost too much more, plus it seems it consumes less power per performance, which is good plus for a SFF. On top of that the XFX 8800GS doesn't seem to have a variable fan, according to customer...

Would an XFX 8800 GS fit in a Microfly case

I am thinking of getting the XFX 8800 GS but it seems like there is a small heatsink on the top side of the card. I just want to make sure that it would still fit in a Microfly case (I have the SX6) without hitting the PSU. There is some clearance in the case but I am not sure if it's enough...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

Anyone had the HDMI port fail on them? I was having issues with LCD monitor not waking up from sleep plugged thru DVI (using the HDMI to DVI adapter) I was pretty sure it was the monitor that was causing the problem, but it seems I might be wrong. Today the HDMI stopped producing any output...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

Ya I have the single sided version. I also read that they aren't as good oc'ers as the double sided ones. I guess I gave in to the light show rather than going for something better for the same price ... but they do look good in the microfly with window case :p Oddly enough to run at 800...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

I got no post even at 2.2v 1000MHz 5-5-5-15. I even tried to increase the northbridge voltage up to 1.45v and still nothing. Why is it better to run 160MHz slower but with a better timing? Is it because of the 1:1 ratio? or is it better to have faster timings? Thanx for your help :)

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

Do the "Auto" settings in the BIOS over clocking menu refer to one particular setting/voltage (the lowest?)? or does it mean that the BIOS scales as it sees fit? for example the north/south bridge voltages, FSB termination & PLL voltages. The reason I'm asking is because I noticed when...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

Disclaimer: Linux n00b :p With Ubuntu 8.04 I had trouble with setting up my monitor (BenQ G2400W 1920x1200) when plugged thru DVI (using HDMI>DVI adapter that comes with board), VGA was no problem it worked at any res. I was getting "input out of range" on my monitor. I eventually managed to...

    BenQ G2400W

That's actually a valid question. Yes I have the drivers installed, but I don't think that will matter for the new issue that started recently, that is sometimes it won't wake up on boot after the PC has been off for a few hours. The BIOS post doesn't show. I tried it on another PC and had no...

Thanxs for the answer because I'm seriously considering exchanging my G2400W because my 'no wake up' issue got worse about 2 days ago and now it's sometimes not waking up when I start my PC after being off overnight or most of the day. I am afraid some component might be failing and getting...

Asus P5E-VM HDMI: best matx ever?

Yes I'm running on the built-in gfx for now. I wasn't aware that it OC's automatically with the FSB. It was running fine at 400FSB while I was testing it. Didn't notice any artifacts but then again I didn't do anything that is remotely graphics intensive. I didn't try to see how hot the...

That's what I did, got the Rams to a stable OC, then set them back to Auto, then OCed the CPU alone and got it stable ... but when I combine my 2 stable settings (for Ram and CPU) it doesn't even post. I don't want to mess with voltages of other components haphazardly because I'm not really...

I need some help with a conservative OC with this mobo. Not too much of an expert on the issue! I can separately: get Ram (Ballistix Tracer 2x1GB 800) to run at 1000MHz 5-5-5-15 @ 1.88v get E8400 to 3.6GHz (400 FSB) @ 1.2125v But if I try to apply both at the same time I don't get a...
