Perhaps the thread with the worst advice I've seen. 4K is leaps and bounds better than 2K for PC use. 43 inch monitor is much better than a 28 inch monitor for me. 4:4:4 vs 4:2:0 is a real issue as colored text might get blurry. I don't have a good suggestion for 43" TV except to say, I've...
Agree: 4:4:4 support is important. If you don't get that, then small fonts will have color distortions.
If you buy instead a 43" monitor you'll have the advantages of:
support for more display resolutions. With a TV you won't see your PC booting up display because the resolution isn't...
The person who sits next to me has a Sony TV and for a while I had a Sony also and his remote would affect mine. Range is greater than 20 feet in my house. The remotes I've used can bounce off walls so I don't agree they require direct line of site.
Worst of all there is an occasional...
After some research decided on buying LG 43" from costco for $600. One of the reasons it was appealing is that it is not a TV , does not have a remote, so other people can't mess with it. Other people have Sony TVs in my area so thier remote could affect my monitor. Would have to cover up the...
How does one decide between all of the 43" offerings which is best? For me price is an important factor. I'm not picky about color and a lot of other things discussed here. Mostly use monitor for software development, so black and white text.
What are you saying about Sony? It is available in 43" size 4k. I bought one from Amazon. The seiki improved their 2015 product a week after I bought. I would buy that now instead. Not good for gamers, but good for programmers. Input lag went from 300ms to 80ms with a firmware update. A...
Agree. The 40 inch non pro is still available for $340.

I have two and wouldn't consider paying 3 times as much for pro version.
Eyestrain is most often caused by trying to focus hard on little objects. The best monitor for eyestrain is a monitor that makes focusing easy. Get a big monitor with lots of resolution and make sure what you are reading has big text.
What size monitor do you currently have?
Something like the...
I think you will find that developers spend most of their days reading. Either documentation or code. Seiki 40 inch monitors got high marks from developers. In general reading puts low requirements on a monitor. It doesn't take much to display high contrast black and white text on a screen...
What do think of the Samsung TVs for $830 versus these new Seiki's for $1K, versus the old Seiki's for $500?
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN40JU6500FXZA
The arguments about what the eye can and can not see is for viewing television content. High contrast content such as text is much more noticeable. Also for using a TV as a monitor one tends to sit much closer.
Yep, was a camera issue. Original pics were taking with a camera phone. I reshot using some macro equipment and see appropriate black and white dots.
Not overly interesting macro pics here:

The later pics are shot...
Well forget I said quad pixel technology. Want I was trying to say is using sub pixels as regular pixels as evident by the magnified view of the pixels and the white pixels being different colors.
Yes, that moire on the magnified image is interesting. Do not see any moire in normal view. Must be related to the image being magnified or something to do with the display and the camera interacting.
Nice! I didn't know that. So the quad pixel tech would have to be done differently. Do you...
I took a magnified pic of my Seiki 4K monitor to look at the pixels:

The raw image is black and white pixels arranged in a checker board pattern. What you see in the seiki is not a single white pixel, but pixels of different...
LCD monitors don't suffer from refresh induced flicker no matter what the refresh rate is. CRT monitors did suffer. I have two Seiki's and I recommend them.

A 39 inch Seiki will take about as much space as two 23 inch monitors.
Initial press release said Q2 2014. We are nearing the end of Q3 and still no Seiki Pro. Anyone know what is going on?

How slow? To be mathematical about it: 30Hz = .033 seconds. 60Hz = .0166 seconds per frame. How much does your mouse move in .033s vs .0166? Yeah one pixel. Your complaint doesn't pass the math test.
How is the monitor refresh rate related to keyboard? It is not. Your are just spreading...
Yes, very crisp screen.
In terms of reliability there are many at work and haven't heard of any quality issues.
Here is my review:

Use it every day and love it. Pleasure to go to work because of my 4K 30Hz monitor. I don't know anything sucky about it.

What makes you say that?
Here is what wikipedia says:
Since activated LCD pixels do not flash on/off between frames, LCD monitors exhibit no refresh-induced flicker, no matter how low the refresh rate.

Why do you care about 60Hz? It doesn't matter unless you are playing first person shooters, or like watching fast action video at 4K (content doesn't exist currently).
I love my seiki 4k monitor at work and recommend it to everyone.
I've had different monitor configurations and the advantage of a 39" monitor is that you have a single large display that you can divide into virtual overlapping displays.
So with my 39" monitor I have my IDE in the center and two browsers on the side along with two consoles. It is comfortable...
