Nice job on setting up the remote connection.
I've been asked more times than I care to remember if EM could do this and the answer has always been "Yes" :)
Glad to see it in action and glad you're having fun . :D
Happy Thanksgiving to all on the [H]ard Folding Team!
Fold On! :cool...
While you may like to run other DC projects this is another reminder that these guys produce results you can see.
Things are happening with F@H and the [H] team is a significant player making a difference! ;)
The protein file in the EM zip's are usually older than the current posted data files.
EM will automatically download the newest file when it sees the need. ;)
What's New Version 3.5.0
Along with adding the new core recognition, I have also switched this EM build to use the VB6 runtime library instead of the VB5. Most people should have the runtime installed already, but I have posted the latest release with service pack 6 at the top of the download...
That protein uses a new core and is supposed to be available only to those that run Linux boxes right now.
As soon as I get more info I'll post an update to EM. ;)
No warning about the new core from Stanford... :(
If you go into the EM options menu and select the box with the problem, and then press the queue.dat file info button, EM will display the number of the current work unit. You can use that info to correct the garbage problem that sometimes causes EM to sit still for a work unit or two...
How you would do it, I'm not sure...
You would have to simulate the two folders...
In the folder with the exe you really only need the work unit text file. (I don't read it, but I do use it for a trigger under certain conditions).
The queue.dat file...
And the config file.
Then...
It never ceases to amaze me how you can bash the Stanford guys at every turn, but as soon as someone says something negative about the UD F/U you go to the mat.
Since you can't really "guarentee" anything about F@H, a project you aren't a part of, and the fact that you have not a clue as to...
Usually there are three possible reasons that EM isn't tracking a "Local" client...
1) The GUI version was installed at one time and the console client is doing work in a different folder. If you start the console using the -local flag this problem goes away. I have discussed this with Vijay...
Normal schedue to look for updates is midnight or about then, user local time...
Check for updates box is all that it needs... and an internet connection of course. ;)
Yeah, thanks for the reminder... I need to revisit the code that does that...
In its original incarnation, EM was built to monitor a maximum of 4 instances. The delete routine really was not written with more in mind. I do need to fix that. It can be improved a lot. ;)
Glad someone...
I can say that this probably won't happen. If EM were a "normal" looking window and not skinned, no biggie.
There are however, a number of skins that you could use to minimize the height of the window. The default skin and a few others are taller than they have to be even with the logo...
DBGromacs Core Supported
What's New Version 3.2.0
Added support for the new core, GBGromacs. This core is a variant on the main Gromacs core Core_78, differing in its incorporation of a fast, "implicit solvent" model (as used in Core_65). It complements Core_78 nicely, increasing the...
Couple of things... already posted in this thread...
There are a couple of proteins that EM doesn't read right...
Something weird with the client writing data... can't be helped so far... ;)
The protein data file is only used to show points in standard view.
I do use the data file for...
Not all pen drives are "boot" capable...
Read over the info on yours. I have a couple of them that can't/won't boot.
My more expensive ones don't have the issue... usually.
It is also possible that some Bios USB boot routines aren't up to it.
I saw that with some ECS boards used on some...
If the computer icon turns red, it is a connection issue. I have found that my network cables need replacing sometimes and all goes back to normal. I also had to replace a defective router because it started having connection issues. Very difficult to figure out unless you have a spare. I also...
Even though EM has a ton of features, it has one basic feature and that is it tracks frame changes and calculates the frame times. Everything else is just gravy. ;)
Problems usually come about because of these few issues:
1) There are occasions when the F@H client stops updating the file...
While you can monitor each machine individually, as p[H]ant0m points out, that kinda ruins what EM can do for you... monitoring from a single machine combines all data and makes it simple to see at a glance that all is ok or that something is wrong.
The EM server is ultra lite...
That's fast enough... EM only reads a couple of bytes until a frame change.
You might have a Win2K issue also???
People don't often mention what OS they are running so I forget about this problem.
Normally this can happen when someone is using Windows 2000 ...
Damn thing by default will disconnect anyone after some set period of time.
XP, I never see this issue...
If you're using Win2K and you're seeing this issue, you'll have to change the security settings so that the connections...
EM tries to guess how long between frames sometimes when you start it. Sometimes it is right on, sometimes it isn't. That can cause a false error once in a while.
If the client being monitored is on the network and the icon turns red, a connection problem or a frozen computer can alert you...
You can monitor up to 100 clients using EM (it is being done right now so I know this works).
You should only use EM on one machine and track the rest via network. MHO
You can minimize the CPU usage by turning off the protein drawing if that concerns you.
I use low res graphics myself...
The new servers do not have the VB5 runtime dll...
Install that first (you can get it from my site, download page)
Then, EM should install and run ... ;)
You should never see the same run/clone/generation numbers on two machines. They are working on the same work unit if you do. When running on a dual system you must add the -local switch to force the client to do all work in that folder, and you need to make sure that you use a different...
Since I've lost count of the the number of times someone has started out using the GUI version of F@H and then switched to the console client and had the issue where the program continues to fold using the old path info, I suggested to Stanford that they fix the issue in the Version 6 client. It...
Yep, sounds like another "noob" mistake...
It is obvious that folding probably isn't going on where you think it is...
EM only breaks for a reason... LOL
Not sure what folder you say you moved things from, but my bet is work is still being done right there.
If you look in the...
