The heat issue seems to be more pronounced on the LTE versions from what I've read.
That said, I have a Wifi model and did notice the bottom left corner getting annoyingly warm today while the screen was at full brightness in the middle of the day. Aside from that, I've used it for hours at...
So I realized why it is that the screen just felt weird initially even though it's very good. I'm used to the iPhone 4's screen, where the LCD is pretty much glued to the thinner glass. On that device, it feels like you're touching the pixels. With the thicker glass of the iPad and greater space...
I'll echo some of the sentiments here. The screen is REALLY nice, but it's definitely not as sharp as the iPhone 4's and you notice it.
It's still a huge improvement over any other tablet and is the first one I find acceptable.
I live almost right next to the Fedex facility where mine was being loaded on the truck, unfortunately they don't usually hit my building before the afternoon. Good thing I'll be home today at least.
Edit: huge amount of scalpers for this one on craigslist.
I expect prices to go even higher after a bunch of disappointed people come back home on Friday from the back of the Apple Store lines.
Not to mention that manufacturing yields on these high res displays seem to be lower than expected.
There is room in the market for a beefier Mac mini, with a desktop processor and / or a discrete GPU (like the 6750M on the 15in Macbook Pro). As Apple gets its feet deeper into gaming with iOS devices, I suspect they might start to feel internal and external pressure to release something like this.
I tried it today. Turning off smart mouse was a must. I run it in windowed mode until I'm sure the mouse is working right then I switch to full screen if needed. If you don't have a cursor in windowed mode, try resizing the window, that fix has been working for me.
Needless to say, I disabled...
The screen is actually better on the 13" Air. The Pro is 1280x800 while the air is 1440x900. Personally I would avoid the SSD upgrade hassle with the Pro and just go with the 13" Air and lots of RAM (purchased separately, of course).
The 11" is a non starter for me as the squished down 16:9...

Also, the appreciation of a digital display is not a binary thing. It's not either unusable or great. Sure, the displays you describe and many...
As someone who paid over $1500 for a X200s thinkpad when it first became available in 2008, and as someone who appreciates Apple products and practices with a ton of caveats, I feel compelled to comment on the ongoing pro/anti Apple silliness in this thread.
My x200s didn't have a CD drive, and...
Anyone thinking they might split the iPad into Pro / Regular lines? Asus is releasing a super high resolution version of the transformer prime this summer but it will be sold along side the normal one and be priced higher. I don't think Apple will do this, but I wouldn't write it off completely.
The retina display will be pretty amazing for text and photos, I can't wait to check it out. I expect some games will probably opt to run at half resolution for performance reasons, but the pixels are so small that they will probably still look pretty good.
What really got me personally was the type. You only truly realize what horrible things Windows does to fonts after you've used OSX for a bit.
I know it's not that clear cut, and some fonts are better off corralled by cleartype. With OSX it seems that you see the font as the designers...
Tried the Magic Trackpad? Don't like it? Trade it for my Magic Mouse. Plenty of magic for everyone here.
It's got about a month of use on it (though it has been sitting in the box for a little over a year). It looks new and works perfectly.

This is an accurate description of combat in The Witcher. I found Alchemy quite fun in the game and liked the highest difficulty since it forces you to pay attention to these details. Frankly the signs (force powers) are a bit overpowered, especially Igni. I played the game the first time when...
The Witcher Wiki is quite good. I am glad I played without it for my first play through but it was really fun to go back and do some of the stuff I missed on my second run. There is a library guide that you can use to avoid buying expensive books (tells you where to get them for free or if you...
I agree with those that characterize self described "audiophiles" as people who "listen" to equipment more than music. That said, I have had the opportunity to experience some of my favorite music reproduced in a wide variety of forms and give you my opinion.
Just as guys who have never taken a...
Most impressive tablet so far. Display quality is still a big question mark but the viewing angles look pretty good from the shots I've seen, which is always a positive sign. This CES has been notable not so much for innovation but for how thin and powerful hardware is getting.
I love Nvidia's card but hate their hype / PR machine. A wait and see attitude is best here.
More competition in CPUs is great, as long as it does not end up bankrupting green and leaving us with less competition in the GPU space (extremely unlikely).
Ahhhh! The universe is conspiring to make me drop money on the new system. First the GTX 570 special on Amazon, surprisingly low ram prices, now this???
There are a lot of subtleties people don't appreciate in the combat system. Most of them don't matter unless you are playing in the hardest difficulty level. For example, all those talents that give you enhanced damage if your opponent is on fire, etc, start to matter more. Chaining is always...
