I lost my first account and started this current one, two weeks after this post.
The rest is [H]ardforum history.
Kyle and CIWS were instrumental in starting this, then they were trusting enough to hand me the reigns.
It was an amazing journey, with incredible support from Mr. Bennett.
There...
I remember going to the other forums and recruiting members from other teams. BillR (RIP Bill) and I were relentless with recruiting, back in the day.
There were a lot of very active members, and it took quite a bit of effort to keep the team focused.
We also had plenty of support from Kyle...
Can't argue, taste in scotch is a very personal thing.
Regardless of distiller, I usually prefer the 15yo's to the courser 12's or the overly complex "ancients".
Nice thread hijack, eh? I've always been good at that.
Back in the days, when there was only rock, cause they hadn't broken down into dirt, yet, and we walked our pet dinosaurs on said rocks ...
... and "D" meant a pizza box stuffed with a headless OC'ed AMD T-bird
Back when my kitchen was pink from the Mojo spill.
Very interesting, thanks for the input, everyone.
Phoenicis, you're TR info is intriguing, to say the least. Thanks for the efforts of comparing the two systems.
Reminds me of the old days when AMD ruled the DC roost.
Now, I wonder how hot my office will get if I put one (or two or ...)...
Damn, GPUs are way expensive these days. Are all the miners driving prices up? I'm seeing a minimum of $900 for a 1080Ti.
Is DC all about the GPU these days?
I know we used to do testing to determine the best price/work unit ratio. Has anyone done that recently?
One day, back in the ancient days of [H] DC, BillR and I were walking our pet dinosaurs on the rock (back before there was dirt) and discussing how to get these new-fangled, non-cro magnon humans to join the DC team. It dawned on us that ...
one: we needed more scotch, and
two: most people...
Hi guys, good to see ya. I don't have much horsepower available, these days. Pretty much a one horse (box) town ... a far cry from the dozens I ran over a decade ago. Last I checked (admittedly, a year or two ago) I still had a borged boxen or two out there, still DCing for [H] but no access...
This came up yesterday, when I was talking to some friends about painting over difficult-to-cover stains.
So, I thought I'd stop by the DC forum and say "Hi" to the team.
A side note about the last time I told this story; BillR, (you'll see his posts in this thread and around the [H]) has since...
Thirteen years ago...
That's when I started this thread.
If you don't care to read the whole thing, I understand...
But, please do me a favor and start reading post #1, if you can stop reading then go ahead and stop. But I'll bet you wind up here and beyond.
Oh, and yeah, I'm still here and...

Bill was one of the founding members of our DC team and, although he hasn't been very active lately, he really loved the [H].
Ok, Bitches
You've had my back
You've never let me down
So what'cha gonna show me,
Now that I'm back around?
I've borged a server,
or two, or three,
and thrown some boxen down
'Cause I can't call out the [H]ardest
Until I've walked [H]ard ground
The best of all, the [H]ard elite...
When [H]ard was real, and ruled DC
When we strove to end the pain
Human frailty was our challenge
Compassion our [H]ard game
Thence hailed a bard from the land of [H]ard
Idealistic, perhaps 'tis true
I knew we could, I believed ye would...
Do what we all did do.
And thus ye did, as...
