Wow...
Not a whole lot of love for the 690 it seems. I feel the need to defend what I consider NVIDIAs most awesome product... ever, so bare with me.
I can't remember ANY other single card that can go neck and neck with the top of the line cards for 3+ years. Sorry, I meant demolish...
I was an early adopter back in 2012 and have pretty much laughed as two generations of GPUs came and went while the GTX 690 is still upper tier.
Now everyone seems to be on a GTX 970/980ti kick and selling off their old 690 cards. I get it, something new and shiny... must have. But I am...
You would probably want to put it into a case with an exhaust fan directly in front of the gpu like the In Win Dragon Slayer. Probably lots of better cases out there with the same functionality but you get the idea...
You know what I think? All these folks saying "sour grapes" insisting that its OK that Newegg gouge prices for the 690 AREN'T the ones trying too buy one. Instead, they are likely the ones complaining that $1000 was way too much money for them to begin with. So instead of agreeing that Newegg...
No, troll.... What's that?
Ever heard of voting with your wallet? By expressing my distaste for a vendor's actions I bring crap like this to others' attention. The hope being to negate any gains, newegg in this case, might have made through price gouging by convincing others to boycott them...
Same here, I was planning on building a whole new gaming rig with two 690's. I won't be buying anything for this new system from newegg. I may just boycot them from any future purchases altogether.
I expect this sort of price gouging from fleabay scum but not from a supposed reputable...
OMG!!! Noob Egg price gouging on top of the $1000 pricetag!!!

Damn, I was about to click on add to cart then I saw the $1200 price tag and just about shit my pants...
Well, I wasn't fast enough to grab a reference card from EVGA so I submitted a pre-order for the signature series. Meh.. an extra 50 bucks for a t-shirt and mouse pad but at least I don't need to constantly hold down F5 on Newegg or Amazon.
LOL! AMD makes the main page taunting superiority on "industry-standard benchmarks". Someone remind me why this is main page worthy? I mean, its not like theres a single review on this site that uses "industry-standard benchmarks". Or did something change?
May as well mention that their...
The Nvidia driver issues also surround SLI setups. I have a tri-sli setup with 3 480gtx's and while playing on my 30' monitor my gpus never go above 50% usage yet I am still unable to play at max settings. Something is definately wrong and no one at Nvidia seems to care.
Ok, so there's a game that has a benchmark. The bencmark favors one GPU manufacturer over it's competitor. The manufacturer whose hardware performs poorly says don't use it while the hardware manufacturer whose hardware performs well says we should....
All the while fanboys from the...
Some games are more CPU bound than others. I am sure an even greater difference would have been apparent with a game like MW2, which is notoriously CPU bound.
I made a comment in the last pcie/sli bandwidth review regarding the impact of CPU speed on such benchmarks. It got overlooked.
Simple question, would an overclock on the CPU affect the results? 3.6 Ghz seems pretty low. A 4.0 or higher benchmark might show more of a difference and would...
Though I do appreciate the effort that went into this review I do believe there is one item of contention. That is the CPU speed. A 3.6 Ghz OC for an SLI system would most likely end up being the bottleneck. Essentially all of your results are close together because your CPU isn't clocked...
That or you could recognize that Skinnee and his partner Vapor are integrity challenged cheaters!

The two have to deal with the fallout resulting from their cheating endeavor. The Watercooling Community really...
Agreed.... My most recent order with them (two weeks ago) had wrong parts included and shipping delays. Nevar Again!!!
Sidewinder Computers or Jab-Tech FTW!
Just thought I'd throw this out there for you in case you hadn't considered it yet but if you are willing to mount a rad outside your box maybe you would want to consider a MORA-2. Really good performance at a decent price. You could probably put your entire loop on it with some fairly silent...
When you have issues putting rads inside go with an external winner!
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1035693859
The MORA-2 kicks ass and is externally mountable.
The hot air will blow directly onto your 320 degrading performance significantly. I'd recommend putting the rad mount at the rear of your case and mount the 320 there.
Crow, I got no beef with you bro, but you are contradicting yourself and probably confusing a few people.
First you "suggest" that a single rad is enough by telling the original poster that he doesn't need a triple rad and then backing that statement up with a link to a review on a single...
"Acceptable" is the key term there. A single 120 GTX would probably be "acceptable" on a 295 as well if you consider anything under stock air as acceptable...
Plus we are talking about two GPUs not a single. Granted, in ballz0r's writeup he had his cpu and northbridge in the loop. A total...
vVcsmoke, if you decide to listen to anything CrowJA says be sure to pay close attention to the 2 day length of time he has been a part of this forum. In fact, anyone that openly blasts advice given by multiple people is probably mentally unstable in some way. Food for thought...
However, I...
You would need at least a 3x120 rad for those cards if you intend on keeping the temps within 15 degrees of ambient with medium speed fans. Bump up the fan speed on BIX rads and that requirement is relaxed a bit but not by much. The Nvidia reported 250w is "average" usage. They approach 300w...
for using twin mcw60s with the 5970 you will need to see if the CSK kit from swiftech is compatible. It says it is on their site but you should double check before purchasing. I have had email conversations with swiftech in the past. They are very quick to respond and very helpful. Try...
Your original setup is pretty solid for the time period. Great thing about it is that most of it is reusable, always nice when dealing with watercooling component prices.
Honestly, your swiftech radiator is a solid radiator no need to remove it from the loop. However a single 3x120 rad may...
And to keep that uranium in check I recommend a few radiators made out of unobtanium. It's a little pricey but nothing says "I have money" like unobtanium.
I surely do need a punch in the face! Hows about you tear yourself away from that fifth serving of pie, get your 850 lbs ass out of that chair and come across the internet and do it yourself?
You talk so big and strong... it makes me anxious to hear what crap you will type next. Tell us how...
I recently upgraded my rig to hold two new 480GTX cards and so my 18 month old 280s are officially collecting dust. Cards run great, never overclocked or overvolted.
Newegg isn't selling them any longer but other vendors show prices around $350 which is insane. I did a search on ebay to see...
Wow, amazing treadstone! And here I thought my 10 TB server was something to behold.
I am curious though what you are doing to avoid the Raid issues many folks are having with the WD 2TB drives? I know WD makes a Raid version of their 2TB drive that one would guess is an optimized (firmware...
Hands down HP LP3065.
Lowest Input lag of any LCD Display, not just 30 inch. Why? It relies on the GPU to do any/all pre and post processing for the monitor. Most monitors have some sort of hardware that will automatically scale what is displayed just in case your OS or GPU is off a bit...
Nothing works better than a wonder woman wrist bracelet rage mail deflection to the person's supervisor.
Nothing special needed to preface the email either. A simple "This needs to be taken care of" or variation there of usually works.
My best rage avoidance email retalliation was...
Apple needs to be slapped in the face a few times. Just one of those things, a company gets too big and they think they are untouchable. Their attitude towards Adobe is proof positive of their management's disregard towards anyone else in the tech industry. If the lawsuit goes through, it...
