I think the article is saying like that is what they will do for the reviewers, but the actual cards that will be shipped to customers would be based on the 260 or something.
Charlie @ The INQ posted up a story today about the GTX 275 and some shifty business by NVIDIA. I don't mean to start a flame war or anything, but does anybody buy this? It seems like everything Charlie says is completely biased towards AMD. However, given some of the stuff NVIDIA seems to be...
Sort of seems like your power supply might not be hanging with everything else? If you are using an older hard drive, that might also be reason for the stuttering. What PSU and hard drive models do you have? Good choice on the card though. If you were looking to make a purchase in the coming...
Since you have P35 board, you might want to consider going with something like an ATI Radeon HD4870 so you could take advantage of CrossFire in the future if you wanted. I think you can get that thing for like $140 nowadays too, and the performance is right in the 260 neighborhood. Seems like a...
I am running one right now at 950/1000 no problems whatsoever. Open-air bench though. I will probably get around to putting it in a case when the excitement wears off ;)
I will update if/when I get better results. Literally just plugged it in and set it to 950/1000 right out of the gate.
Yeah me too. I would love to see this thing be bus-powered. They mention that they weren't under NDA so they just must not have run the power consumption tests
ha no problem. I am actually thinking about this card myself now... I was going to go with the HD4650 or 4670 in my HTPC build...
Saw this early this morning: http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-4750-rv740-review-preview-test/
The card performs near the HD4850 and is supposed to cost less than $100. Pretty nice...
More importantly, looks like this is the world's first 40nm GPU to see the light of day. :eek...
hmm.. YOu could be right. They are working on the 40nm stuff IIRC. Next generation video cards from both companies sound pretty nice. I think I heard that ATI's RV740 will be the first or one of the first 40nm cards and it might be entirely bus-powered. Can anyone verify that? Performance is...
So I was reading around various tech sites including [H] and stumbled across news that the upcoming GTS 240 card from NVIDIA is actually the same damn thing as the 9800GT, which was the same thing as the 8800GT (albeit with slight overclocks each time).
Is anybody else getting kind of sick of...
The 9600GT will typically be better than the HD4670, but the 9600GT is hard to find for below $100, whereas the HD4670 is readily available everywhere for $80 or less.
Also, I can tell you definitively that the 4670 will absolutely own CS:S.
The 260 and 280 probably won't fit, as they remain fat the entire length of the card along the bottom. The 4870 on the other hand curves up (end of the heatsink) well before where those SATA connectors are, so you wouldn't have a problem with clearance on the 4870.
Hope this helps!

Yeah I just read up on Phenom temperatures and it didn't look too good, especially when overclocked.
Do you need to use water cooling on Phenoms or is air cooling usually fine? I would probably want to use the stock cooler.
Also, for motherboards, do all of the AMD 700 series motherboards...
Yeah I see what you mean. I almost want to go with AMD just because everyone else has Intel and I want to be different... :D
Does anybody know about any price drops or anything? Maybe a price drop would make AMD processors more attractive.
Lastly, I read about how this new southbridge (I...
I was just reading about the upcoming (in a couple of months?) 45nm "Deneb" Phenom CPUs. It looks like those can overclock a lot better and use a lot less power (roughly half).
Do you think when those are released that AMD will become more popular for the same market we're talking about here?
uhh wow I can't believe I didn't even realize that. You are so right. AMD has like no commercials on TV but I see Intel stuff all the time. Good call.
I think it would be cool if AMD was able to release like a 3.6GHz dual-core phenom. That might be competitive, but it seems like the fastest...
Wow thank you for the feedback everyone! This is very useful to me. Keep it coming!
What do you think the general reasons that most consumers in general would chose the Intel models over the competing AMD ones? (might not be the same reason you had?)
Thanks!!!! :D
Hello,
I am doing research for a new build and thought I would come here to get some opinions. I could not help but notice that Intel's Quad-core processors are a lot more popular than AMD's, but I am not sure I understand exactly why.
Specifically, I was wondering about the Phenom X4 9850...
