How quick is the on off? When you turn on the computer, if the off switch on the PSU was off previously, it will always do a quick on off and then boot. It's a feature of the P965 boards, not just the gigabyte board. All of us get it. It should hold your overclock when you do that unless it's...
When the memory voltage is set to normal it is running at 1.8V no matter what. The memory boots at 1.8V 800mhz 5-5-5-18 when you install it. The memory has no problems doing that (I have the ballistix PC8000 on the P965-DS3 board, it booted at 800mhz 5-5-5-18 1.8V when I first installed them.)...
There's no such thing as a CPU FSB wall. It's all been proven to be BS. Everyone hits higher FSB's with better cooling which proves the FSB wall to be false. When you do hit a 'CPU FSB wall' and running ridiculous vcore and temps are fine it's because of the GTL+ Term voltages, not the vcore...
You always should put the radiator after the pump. The pump heats the water, so without the radiator after it, the water temps will be higher when it hits the CPU block. The water is always cooler directly after the radiator. If you're worried about the 2nd block in the loops temp being higher...
No. The 45nm processors will not require DDR3. Most boards already out (including most P965 boards and a couple 975X boards as well as all P35 boards) will support the 45nm processors. There's no DDR3 support on any P965 or 975X boards.
It has nothing to do with Intel supporting crossfire, it has to do with Nvidia selling Nvidia chipsets. The reason people buy the Nvidia chipsets for Intel CPU's is pretty much only because of the SLI feature. I remember reading a couple months ago that Intel would share information about their...
Try setting the FSB manually at 333mhz with the E6600 and then swap it out for the E6850 and try to boot. Don't jump the cmos after you set the 333mhz fsb.
Interested in grabbing this board for myself and giving my girlfriend my 965-S3. It's only $63.99 on newegg (open box.) Has anyone touched 500mhz FSB on this board? Can anyone hit high ram clocks like the 680 boards?
thanks guys
I get the same cmos checksum error once and awhile, just restart and works fine. Try this, always worked for me when I got the power on/off non stop: Remove all power (unplug PSU, turn PSU off, hit the power button to discharge the caps) Put jumper on the cmos, remove the battery, remove the...
It's possible to cool below ambient temps with air cooling, well below ambient. Billparish through an idea out to me about using a concentrated spray of Dust-off. Spraying directly onto the cpu heatsink could very well bring the temps below ambient. ;)
Those temps aren't realistic unless you...
I haven't heard of that yet. I always thought Silver was the best thermal conducter of heat. I have a feeling that stuff could do more harm than good, instead of filling the microscopic gaps it CREATES more of them... Diamonds are the absolute hardest thing in the world...
I think the whole MCH cooler needs to go on anything other than the DQ6. The stock coolers are aluminum, which as we all know stinks. Adding some weight would help bring temps down too (that's why air cpu coolers are working pretty good now, the best ones weigh around 2LBS!!!!)
You won't have any trouble at all. It's a seasonic built PSU (Corsair HX520W, PCP&C silencer series are Seasonic Built as well) so it's very good quality.
Whoa whoa whoa, DON'T WIPE THE DRIVE. The files are likely hidden in your system folders. I've taken these programs apart and know exactly how they work. Hell I've used one for quite awhile on my gf's computer to make sure she's being honest.
Do this for me:
Go to start -> run type...
The only problem I can see you running into with all those drives is if the PSU is a true multiple 12v rail PSU with OCP on the rail that powers SATA/4pin connectors being overloaded on bootup. From What I remember of JG's review, the corsair 620W is really a single rail PSU.
Anything higher than 2.1V I get the big red FAIL also. I've had this board eat a couple sticks of ram also but luckily they were junk sticks. Was running 4x512MB. Both sticks that died were installed in the same slot (2nd channel 1st slot.) This was awhile ago that it happened but I've heard a...
Yea I've done some work with my northbridge, cleaned to perfection (goo gone, qtips + 91% iso alcohol, Arcticlean 2 Thermal surface purifier, AS5) also done to the southbridge, have 4 fans laying on top of the board (1 over memory, nb, 2 around the cpu socket.)
470mhz FSB has been my...
I've triple checked with 3 different multimeters and all of them read the same voltage. There's atleast 10 different vcore readpoints around the cpu socket that all read within .01V of each other. I'll throw up a diagram showing markings of the vcore readpoints in a few, working on fixing my...
It really doesn't matter the 'brand' of the memory, what matters is if it uses Micron D9 ICs. Ballistix PC-6400 are the best bang for the buck. I believe I saw them on newegg for $65 after rebate for 2GB...
Is anyone getting halfway decent ram clocks on their rev 1 c1 DS3/S3? I cannot break 1066mhz cas 5 in dual channel and 1100mhz cas 5 single channel on my Rev 1 S3. I've tried every bios version, timings voltage up to 2.7V ect. and no matter what I cannot break the wall. I've got 2x512mb PC8000...
