I have the DT770pros with an Audigy 2ZS. What I did to break them in was just play some heavy-ish rock on about medium volume overnight. After that, the sounded amazing.
I'm still amazed every time I put them on my head! btw, I also got mine off of eBay for $160 shipped.
So as long as I install the ntfs-3g FUSE driver on they linux laptop, I shouldn't have a problem moving/adding/deleting things off of the external HD if I format in NTFS?
