What do you see for network status information when you look at the troubled connection? What addresses are show for ip address, dns servers and gateway? Is connection DHCP enabled if used and do you have DHCP enabled?

I have done a lot of bios upgrades using the windows based utils if available and never had a problem. Main thing like any bios update make sure no interruptions til finished and no virus/spyware utilities are running when you do update
