Nope, leaving PLL on auto at 4.6 doesn't boot. Both my B2 and B3 won't boot with PLL auto at 4.6 which is completely opposite of the current recommendations on this.
I did manage to solve my problem but have no idea what I did. Reloaded optimized defaults and started over for the umpteenth...
I'm still reading through the posts here and wonder if anyone else is having this problem. I swapped my B2 P8P67 Deluxe for the new B3 and I'm having problems.
On B2 the only thing I had to do was set to manual, up my multi to 46, enable PLL, set memory speed, set phase to extreme, and LLC to...
Thank you so much for your work on this, getting mine to 1080P before was a real hassle, and had to use the classic panel reg hack. Followed directions and it worked like a charm, although couldn't find the INF file until reading the last message. Just installed the 169.21 on my 8800gtx, XP...
Thanks everyone for recommending this LCD. I love it. Found it sitting on the front porch last week, few minor holes in the box, no damage thankfully. Hooked it up with a dual link DVI cable from monoprice.com. No bum pixels. I pulled my hair out in XP trying to get 1080p until I found the...
Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing sort of. I'm on a 21" crt at home and work and they are killing my eyeballs at 1024x768. It's getting bad enough to make me concerned, I spend alot of time in front of the computer, and a good percentage is web browsing and reading. I was looking at...
I shut off the indexing in Vista and I still get intermittent periods of it running the hard drive full tilt while it's not doing anything. I'm getting used to it, haven't been turning up any errors, and the board seems to have settled down nicely at 3.2ghz. Threw in Deskcapes and Objectdock...
So far so good, mostly. Got XP and Vista dual booting, backed everything up, and then tested my overclock which came up stable. I'm having one problem though. I've installed XP twice now and Vista once. Everytime the HD LED blinks once every second when the computer is idle overclocked or...
Replacing the rubber pads under the NB and SB with Ceramique has solved all my problems so far. Once you see the rubber pads (not TIM despite what anyone says to the contrary) you'll be amazed that it ever worked at all. Two consecutive boots both completed 15 hours in Orthos blend at 8x400...
So far so good on replacing the rubber insulators under the NB and SB. Haven't had a whole lot of time running Orthos due the wild weather here. But it at least has ran a few hours two days/boots in a row which is a record. Gonna let it run tonight to see what happens.
I think the IN9 32X-Max is the real Abit antichrist, the IB9 is probably some minor dark diety. I have bald patches from pulling my hair out with the IN9. It also was very slow on getting reviews and even slower on getting bios updates.
Got home late last night, but found time to take it apart and pull the heatpipe. I think it would be a stretch to call what I found underneath it "thermal interface material". It reminds me much more of a rubber insulator. I'm going the Ceramique route tonight, and will try folding the pwm...
I think I'm going to have to take it apart and pull the blankity-blank heatpipe and get out the Arctic Silver. I'm so wishing I'd took the time to mod my radiator onto a bigger case, it's like 10lbs of meat in a 5lb bag. It ran almost 14 hours last night without a hitch, had my girl run blend...
When I was using 2GB at 3.2GHZ on my 6600 I had the exact opposite problem, it would never set 1T even though it was selected, so I wound up using Memset. And of course, now that I have 4GB it works just fine, and is completely useless to me:confused:
I made it 13hours and 45 minutes last...
From my experience this motherboard does all kinds of odd things. So starting with the basics like heat control will help you narrow it down. This board should have come with active cooling to begin with. I thought I had mine figured out. It ran 8 and a half hours on blend last night without...
That's not entirely true. Back when I overclocked the A7N8X and AMD Barton I had to lap the northbridge chip and put on a copper Iceberg to get it stable, it would do all sorts of strange things until I did that. Heat is an enemy when it comes to overclocking, plain and simple, it only takes...
Get that fan, if I remember correctly, the board is only good for stock settings without the fan.
"...In conclusion I would only like to add that you should try to avoid not only the FSB frequencies between 400 and 450MHz, but also 325MHz FSB, and 360MHz-380MHz interval. Too many...
Thanks for the tip Spazilton.
Violator, I'm not quite sure what to tell you, but if you don't have that northbridge fan I would get one pronto. I used a 60mm Stealth and a handful of wire ties to get it on there, because the bracket is for 40mm, but I wanted more cfm and less db. I've been...
Got my other 2 gigs of Gskill last night. I was stable with 2gb at 4-4-4-12-1T at 2.050 vdimm. The extra 2 gigs did not want to stabilize at all and caused crashes, including Bios going into safe mode(haven't seen that before), even though Memtest showed no errors. I had to back down to 2T...
I am using the beta3 with a 60mm Stealth on the NB and until I did what was described in my previous post I got tons of 2 minute pulls. Over 3 minutes and I was in heaven. CPU would be fine, but when I tried to stress the RAM it would quit every time. After endless voltage tweaks I made it to...
I could not get my memory stable at 800 with a 6600 running 400X8 linked/synched no matter what voltages I messed with and the memory was rated for it. Well I found the problem, most of the stuff I've read online says to lock down the pci-e frequencies and disable linkboost. Once I turned that...
Well, despite how unhappy I was with Abit's approach to the quad core problem, I went ahead and dove into the IN9 because it still looked like the best 680i board to me (knock on wood). So far in the last few days I've been playing with it I've got the e6600 up to 8X400 stable and I'm working...

"DUMN IT!...... I can't test the NEWER BETA bios for it which FULLY UNLOCKES ALL FOUR CORES of a QUAD CPU at any multi.....as I've been told..... "

"Yep, you have to run Orthosx4 basically, setting the "CPU" setting to which proc you want that instance on. Also have to create four Orthos directories. If you look at my screenshot and JethroXPs, you'll see the four Orthose boxes. Im not running a wide screen res, so they're a...
I think the multiplier issue can probably be fixed in the BIOS (not holding my breath) and I'm betting the FSB issue is a physical problem with the boards. We still aren't seeing many games that utilize multithreading so I'd have to think with these limitations that a dualcore with a higher...
Check out this thread, it's a long read and I haven't got all the way through it, but it looks like some people are hitting 400+ on the new Evga revision.

I'd just do Shamino's fix for the IN9 but I don't think my soldering skills are that high. Hey officermartinez, are all four of your cores clocking or just two? Thanks.
It's a physical problem with the motherboards. Check out this, there's a pic on page 2

I'm ready to order my rig this weekend and not sure what to do for a mobo. I really like the Abit but Evga has fixed the quadcore problem but getting a good board from them...
I've been standing back hanging on to my wallet waiting to see how all the 680i boards shake out. Has anyone had good quad core OCing success on an unmodded IN9? This is one of my requirements for a board because I plan to move from two to four cores when the prices come down. So anyway I saw...
I remember seeing the molex issue show up on all the IN9 forum threads a little while ago and I thought people were leaving it unplugged with 8800's.

I sure hope HardOCP is going to review this board in the near future. I've got a little time until there's a enough saved for a new build and I'd like to hear their take on the board.
I'm pretty sure I've seen other people with OS install hangups on Abit and Xtreme Systems forums with this board. If I remember correctly some people used PS2 keyboards and mice to get around it. And you can also try changing the keyboard detect to OS instead of Bios or vice versa.
